Day 4 - Friday - Royal Ascot 2020

16:40 - West End Charmer 13/2 E/W (5 places), Desert Icon 20/1 E/W (5 places) & Protected Guest 66/1 E/W (4 places) & 50/1 E/W (5 places) - No guesses for which race form line I've chosen for betting purposes in this one. West End Charmer beat the lot LTO, but I like the step up in trip for the other two I will/have also backed. Both Desert Icon & Protected Guest are getting an additional 4lbs from WEC also, so would hope they'd be closer at the finish, though still suspect WEC would be good enough to win the race.

Small bet on Dolphin Vista 50/1 E/W (6 places) also for this race.

Desert Icon didn't get in.

Student loan on short priced fav in a 22 runner handicap....

What could go wrong :concern:

Fingers crossed though, obviously :)

Oh Kev dont! I had 10/1 on him that day antepost only to be chinned by a Brian Meehan horse at double carpet! Was playing cricket at the time but still watched it as we were the batting team. Couldn’t believe my eyes

Not gonna lie, i thought this too Kev. lol.

Horse looked good. Handles soft. I'll watch instead though.

Haha, he's incredibly difficult to knock other than the generic 'its a massive handicap so don't back a short price'

Nothing has shown form to beat him so far....

He's in a trixie for me (Stradavarius still to run in that though) so how important he is for me tomorrow is up in the air still!

....went to the Arc at Chantilly a few years ago and got talking to a bloke on the train back to Paris. He said he owned a horse called Bacchus that was currently at home injured but watch it if it ever runs in a handicap such as the Wokingham at Ascot. Needless to say, never even noticed until after it had won.

Small bet on Dolphin Vista 50/1 E/W (6 places) also for this race.

Desert Icon didn't get in.

Scrap this, after further delving, I backed Scarlet Dragon, instead, 40/1 E/W (6 places).

Hadn't looked at race at all, now have.

Taking 10s about Dancin Inthestreet. Handles all ground. Ran well when 2nd on debut to potentially smart Heiress.

She won her maiden decent enough, but probably indicated to me anyway that she would want a stiff 5 rather than 6. This was probably backed up on her 5th at Wolves.

First 6 home at wolves ratings.

Maystar was 91 now 97
Get Boosting was 77 now 87
Auchterarder was 87 won next now 92
Raaeb was 91 now 97
Dancin Inthestreet was not rated but runs off 83 tomorrow.
Kondratiev in 6TH was 86 now 94

Looking at all those 5 around her, they had at least a run more than her.

She would've won i'm almost sure the last day, she got so much trouble, handicapper put her up a bit.

I reckon she's very welll handicapped still + gets a stone off Art Power tomorrow.

I'd rather see Ciaran Fallon on, but at 10s.

I am on.

13:15 - Art Power 3/1 (backed) currently 5/2 - As others have alluded too, I suspect this horse is well ahead of his mark. Glad they chose the handicap route, as feel this is his best chance. Pulled the trigger at 3/1, expect him to go off nearer 2/1. In a multi.

Followed others in and added Dancin Inthestreet 17/2 E/W (6 places)

....I like Mahale in the Albany simply because Channon usually has one for Royal Ascot. Bits of blue for it on Oddschecker, stepping up in distance after fast finishing on debut.

Remember it’s debut. They had a right good punt on it.

Interesting shout Eggs, going to take a look now!

Another good day today which guarantees a weekly profit. Shade unfortunate with Waliyak in the last. She could have done with some company but swings and roundabouts on track position. Today they clearly didn't want the stands side.

The last two days looked the worst from a betting point of view at the start of the week and they still do.

1.15 I might have chanced Art Power at 20/1 in an ordinary Commonwealth Cup but he makes no appeal at this price.

1.50 & 2.25 Easy leave alones. I would have preferred to see Admiral Nelson in the Norfolk.

3.00 Defoe EW. A reproduction of last year should see him competitive but given the pluses he has been ominously weak in the market.

3.35 A competitive, but ordinary looking renewal with no obvious standout.

4.10 Al Dabaran (Win). Trip should be fine but has taken a walk, presumably on account of the ground.

4.40 Had backed Hereby and disappointed she didn't get in. Even more disappointed if two are taken out tomorrow.

No best of the day. Any return would be good

Week stats after Day 3:
Total Stake - 193.3 pts
Total Return - 168.3 pts

Profit/loss - -25 pts

Total Open - 24 pts

Clawed my way back almost level... 25 points down but with 24 open :)

Of the 24 points I have open, Friday includes:

13:15 - Art Power 5.25/1 (doubled with Stradivarius) and City Walk 20/1 (5pl)

13:50 - Golden Melody 5/1

14:25 - Eye Of Heaven 4.75/1 (doubled with Stradivarius)

15:00 - Hamish 11/1 (3pl)

15:35 - Golden Horde 16/1 (Backed 29th April)

16:10 - On Guard 14/1 (3pl)

16:40 - Durston 13/2 (5pl)

Also, a treble on Stradivarius, Art Power, Eye Of Heaven

In contrast to the previous 3 days, I'm unlikely to add much more to the above. After Stradivarius won today I'm nicely set up for some decent wins tomorrow from the ones I like the most. Hugh managed to put up 4 selections in the 3 races I didn't have a bet in, so that happened.

Going off On Guard a bit and 5/1 on Al Daraban is probably going to make it's way in to my plans actually, I know a few people are keen and as I'm writing this I see KB has put it up too... can defintiely see the case!

Good luck everybody for Friday :)

Very keen on Anthony Van Dyke. He has no good course form, but I think he’s the best of these and he ran a great race on his return. I can’t see Defoe turning the form around and Elarquam has it to prove over a mile and a half.

Picture the scene lads.. a furlong to go and De Sousa comes there absolutely swinging on Art Power. One by one they’re all off the bridle and he’s still sitting with a double handful on the good thing out front. Suddenly Silvestre presses the button with a furlong to run and he absolutely bolts away from them in the style of the Group 1 sprinter he will soon be known as. 2 lengths clear.. 3 lengths clear. ‘This is a procession from Art Power - what a performance’ screams Simon Holt as the whole of the racing world turns into Stradivarius pre-race yesterday.

Running a tad late this morning (work)
1.15,1,50,3.00,3.35,4.10,4.40 All unnamed 2nd favs 15 doubles.
