I can't make up my mind whether they've been messing with Regents Stroll or just that's he's not as natural a chaser as the other two. Could be that PN and us punters are just getting caught up in the comparison with CP last year when there might not be anything in that at all.
As regards the rest, I've looked through them several times and nothing jumps out at me which is why connections of both 6MB and Koktail are targeting this race perhaps.

I'm intrigued by the tactics, Regent's Stroll will want to get on with it, Sixmilebridge likes to make all, and Koktail Divin made all in his beginners, that's without taking anything else into account.

Yes, the start could be very important. Hopefully we'll not have any standing starts again!

Right, we've made a decent start but obviously need more ideas - so PLEASE keep 'em coming.

How about we kick off with a horse who's unbeaten at Cheltenham in four starts including three Festivals.

Yes, it's FJ legend BOB OLINGER who will be defending his Stayers' crown at the ripe old age of 11.

He's currently 6-1 nrnb with 365.

I certainly can't see him finishing our of the frame and I don't fancy anything to beat him.

He went down by 7 lengths to a race fit Teahupoo on his seasonal debut over Christmas at Leopardstown - a course where he's never won.

But Cheltenham on what's likely to be similar ground to last year (good to soft) is a different proposition and I reckon there's a decent chance Bob will come out on top again - and he's more than 3 times the price of the favourite.

It promises to be a cracking race packed with interesting contenders.

Ma Shantou's gone from strength to strength this season (with 3 course wins over three miles) and rates a big danger.

Kabral Du Mathan could be absolutely top drawer but he's never run this far and has yet to prove himself at this level.

I'd say Ballyburn is also a big danger but he's yet to prove he's as effective over this trip and that he's ready to fullfil his potential after being royally messed around by Willie last season. I'm adamant he'd have a better chance of victory in the Champion Hurdle but I wouldn't be surprised if the maestro is proved right.

I'm happy to pass on JP's pair Honesty Policy and Impose Toi and cheer home Bob to a fourth Festival win - even if he did get very lucky to beat Galopin Des Champs in the Turners.

What d'ya reckon amigos - any love for Bolinger?

I’d throw Staffordshire Knot into the mix as well Nortons.

Jack looks like he’ll be riding and he seems to keep improving all season, top weight but Elliott won it with future grades horses 3 times.

Decent shout Craigy - weights will almost inevitably rise making it harder.

All of his wins this season have been on heavy but he's in the form of his life.

Older horses do well in this and he ran well in the Coral Cup last year on good to soft (beaten less than 9 lengths).

Sire Du Berlais won this twice off 152 - hard to imagine Staffordshire Knot is in the same league but 16-1nrnb makes him a tempting proposition.

Another one for the list at an each way price too.

I'm all over Bob and still think he's a solid ew play especially on the day when I think the field is likely to hold up and we should get 4 maybe 5 places.

I doubt he goes to the race but Downmexico way is this years State Man where I chase him down through half the festival races, Plate I think will be where he lands but if he should show up in the Jack Richards he look set to run a big race...

Right, no more messing around - here we go.

The Day 3 Fat Jockey yankee is:

SIXMILEBRIDGE: (Jack Richards) 9-1 with 365, Lads, BFred, Victor, MGM
He's a slick jumping trail-blazer who's been in terrific fettle this season. He's got course form and can give Fergal his first taste of Festival glory.

BOB OLINGER: (Stayers' Hurdle) 6-1 all round
A fat jockey legend bidding for his fourth Festival win at the age of 11. Unbeaten at Cheltenham - he knows how to get the job and another win for Bob would no doubt bring tears to the eye of many a FJ.

SUPREMELY WEST: (Pertemps): 9-2 Lads, 4-1 all round
Dan's been plotting this race all season and he's certainly weighted to win off 135.

JERIKO DU REPONET (Kim Muir): 4-1 all round
Second in the Pertemps last year, proven on decent ground and likely to have Derek O'Connor on board which will help offset has big weight.

1pt win yankee pays 3129pts
1pt each way yankee pays 3229pts
(that's taking the all-round 4-1 on Supremely West)

Hats off to everyone who has helped shape this bet - sadly it's not gonna be a life-charger but hopefully it will help replenish the coffers in some small way.

Decided to make the selections now before prices cave even further.

I've backed it each way but the prices are short enough (apologies) and some people may prefer to go win only.

Good luck to everybody who gives it a go.

Sorry @robith - but love to hear the case anyway and maybe there's room for the alternative-far more exciting-day 3 yankee.
 
Nah, we sometimes make things way too complicated for ourselves. The yankee is locked

The case was

- Rock solid form, string of 1s too
- Can draw a favourable line to Bambino Fever through Switch From Diesel (admittedly bumpers vs hurdles)
- Excellent recent record of the trainer in the race
- Form on multiple goings
- Form beyond the distance of the race so if in contention you know she'll stay in a fight

The more I look at the Ryanair, with the ground looking like good to soft throughout the fez, then Banbridge isnt going to be out the frame here. Id even give him a squeak of troubling Fact to File
