Cross Country Chase 2019

Instantly cashed out, I can’t see any positives from that run. Looked like he hated every second of it !

Nearly went in on Ballycasey for this, and just watched the replay from today, kinda glad it's one I didn't bother doing, though would still like a Tiger Roll alternative, you know, just in case the unthinkable happens!!!

Auvergnat does hold Josies Orders pretty well on their last 3 runs, and JO looks to be a solid player still.... so perhaps one of those?

Head gear the key for auvergnat. look at his run last time out. Travelled beautifully and hosed up in a very competative field. He'd been getting too far back in this previously, but they seem to have found the key to him now so will be interesting to see How he goes. As he's in rude form and coming in to his prime.

“He'll have a penalty for the La Touche now anyway!” said trainer Enda Bolger.

“He travelled so sweet. Last week we put blinkers on him because he ran in a couple of hurdle races and ran terrible lazy.

“He was on fire everywhere today. Even though Donie (McInerney) lost his whip on the run-in he didn't need it.

“It's a pleasant surprise but he was always showing that there was one of those type of races in him.

“He'll probably go to the cross-country in Cheltenham and we'll see after that.

“This is where we want to be and it goes to show how good those La Touche races can be as well.

“Today is different and it will be well celebrated tonight.”

Josies had a poor prep last year coming into this after along lay off. You can't discount him around the banks. As we've see today with ballycasey. Experiance in these races is key. They made more use of him today with the blinkers on.
And we all know he stays all day round there.

After josies orders win today

Bolger said:- “You probably know where we are heading! He stays well and sees it out, and we’ll try and keep him in one piece now for March.

“They weren’t bad horses in it this year, it was a good test and the timing is just right.

“His ears were pricked and that’s why those things (blinkers) are on him. I’m chuffed with that, and it’s poignant that it was in the race for my old boss (P P Hogan).

“Hopefully Auvergnat will go to Cheltenham as well. We were just dodging the ground with him, and he might have a prep run somewhere over hurdles.”

Josie's Orders 8/1 with WH?

Quite a distance to make up on last years run but he's not out of it is he?

and at double the price Fact Of The Matter that beat him?

Fact of Matter getting weight....tho is improving as new to scene.....not fan of either....cashed out BC....so Tiger all the way, with a small ew on the French horse

Just a personal view but, having had a runner in the race, I don't see the Cheltenham cross country course as particularly similar to Punchestown and don't go overboard on form between the two. For me, Cheltenham is closer to normal chasing and it seems easier for better class chasers to switch disciplines. I haven't checked but my impression is that there are more banks (which disrupt rhythm) at Punchestown and it's easier to coast round at Cheltenham.

Cheers Archie, that personal experience is very handy to know. I find this race a very tricky one to win with. I cashed out a load of bets featuring Tiger Roll because there appeared to be a lot of negativity surrounding him over the past few weeks but that now seems to be going the other way and he may well be one of the bankers of the week??

Thanks Archie, that provides me with a small crumb of comfort as I clutch onto my Balleycasey slips!

Great to see Tiger Roll with the hurdle entry (as connections stated a while back to be the plan) at Navan on Sunday.
2:20 over 2m5

Back of the TV job ...

Staying on late?

Good thing :devilish:

Ballycasey doubtful to run in this according to Willie (from Saturday’s RP column)

Have taken a small amount on Chic Name at 70.0

5thblast year as a 6 year old, And went on to win over 3m6 afterwards I’ve no doubt he has buckets to find still but you would think he’s an improved and you never know what could happen. Probably wants it soft though

Great prep run for Tiger Roll
