Cross Country Chase 2018

Other than same prep, super festival form, trip no issue, still only 8, bullish trainer, raced and schooled well so yeh, I’m as bullish as GE!

I appreciate no-one is going to change their mind at this point but we'll have the conversaton anyway :)

"Same prep" - absolutely no proof it'll suit Tiger Roll as well as it did COC - different horses. I'd prefer a horse that has been there and done it Cause of Causes

"Super Festival form" - Tiger Roll 1st in a triumph / 13th in the stayers hurdle / 1st in the 4 miler --- That is very very good, however "Super form" would look more like 7th Supreme / 2nd Kim Muir / 1st 4 miler / 1st Kim Muir / 1st Cross Country 101 versus 74211

"trip no issue" - Exact same comment applies to Cause of Causes - both won a 4 miler

"Still only 8" - Previous winners ages are
8yo x2 9yo x3 10yo x4 11yo x 0 12yo x3 13yo x1 (THis included Any Currency still being classed as the winner, and I will keep that there because the bookies didn't pay me for Josies Orders so I refuse to accept he won :p)
Therefore, more 10 year olds have won than 8 year olds... so another plus for Cause of Causes

"bullish trainer" - Just as many bullish comments in the released media about Cause of Causes ... the most bullish comment regarding Tiger Roll, is this "f***ing flying" comment that Kevin Blake said, that no-one else has heard.

"school well" - There is 0% chance you are telling me you'd prefer something that has 'schoiol well' to won a course and distance race at the festival.

I literally cannot see how reading my comments anyone could side with Tiger Roll OVER Cause of Causes..... but we're too close now :p

Cause of Causes has never won on soft ground at a distance over 2 miles. That would worry me. This isn’t an absolute superstar of a horse, he’s won 8 out of 40 races. He’s my biggest winner in the race still, I love the horse and what he’s done at cheltenham the last few years, but I have Tiger Roll and The Last Samuri covered for a decent amount. The latter could be a huge danger on soft ground and apparently shone over the fences last week

I’ve not a penny on Tiger Roll but taking the “schooled well” is no more a gamble than many of us took with Cause of Causes last year

He's a horse that has been in handicaps though, I'd argue 8 wins with that being the case is a very good strike rate... AND the ground on the cross country course is always better than the actual track?

No arguement in covering Tiger Roll or Last Samuri because they've been backable prices though

I'm not denying that.... but Cause of CAuses has also schooled well this year AND won the race last year... so to use "schooled well" as a positive for Tiger ROll over CoC is just not possible IMO

The biggest worry for me would be how much did the National last year take out of CoC.

He’s run in it before but never like that, I would imagine finishing 2nd will take a whole lot more out of you than finishing 20+lengths down in 8th. And with the way CoC preps you’d never know until the day.

Regardless he is one of my 3 festival lynch pins so let’s hope not

"Same prep" - absolutely no proof it'll suit Tiger Roll as well as it did COC. No proof it wont.

Super Festival form - yes. 2/3 vs 3/5. COC may have won more at Cheltenham but TR is 3 times the price and has been for months. He has a better festival strike rate :)

"trip no issue" - Exact same comment applies to Cause of Causes. I didn't say it didn't. It's a tick for both of them.

Age - you make a good point.

"school well" - There is 0% chance you are telling me you'd prefer something that has 'schoiol well' to won a course and distance race at the festival. TR is 3 times the price so yes of course having been there done that is better, but as HF pointed out, taking the “schooled well” is no more a gamble than many of us took with Cause of Causes last year

Bullish trainer - he is f***ing flying at home Kev :), that's enough for me

Of course COC is the more likely winner but Tiger Roll has been 3/4 times the price for a while and I'm happy with my position.

"Same prep" - absolutely no proof it'll suit Tiger Roll as well as it did COC. No proof it wont. No proof it won't indeed, but things are for you to prove, not for me to disprove?

Super Festival form - yes. 2/3 vs 3/5. COC may have won more at Cheltenham but TR is 3 times the price and has been for months. He has a better festival strike rate :) Better strike rate, I'll give you... as the 2nd for CoC won't please me this year

"trip no issue" - Exact same comment applies to Cause of Causes. I didn't say it didn't. It's a tick for both of them.Agreed then

Age - you make a good point. Glad I checked it out :p

Bullish trainer - he is f***ing flying at home Kev :), that's enough for me Cause of Causes is held in higher regard, that''ll do for me!

"Of course COC is the more likely winner but Tiger Roll has been 3/4 times the price for a while and I'm happy with my position. " I have plenty of proof that Cause of Causes was 10/1 and 9/1 for a VERY long time... so I am also very happy with my position. I'd rather have my 10/1 on CoC than anyone elses 10/1 on Tiger Roll :p

:triumphant: All good fun :)

Don’t worry COC is in the main acca :)

Latest update on the two

CAUSE OF CAUSES

10yo b g (5P0512-0)

Dynaformer - Angel In My Heart

He has been some horse for us and he appears to be in great form. The Cross Country race has always been his target and he loves this time of year. He has been there and done it and I couldn’t be happier with him.

TIGER ROLL

8yo b g (331P-2P5)

Authorized - Swiss Roll

He is another horse that seems to save his best form for Cheltenham and he goes back there for the Cross Country. We took him over there a few weeks ago to school over the cross country fences and he took to it well.

He is in some order and he seems to appreciate that nice spring ground. He owes us nothing at this stage and hopefully he’ll get into a good rhythm and give a good account of himself.

"if you ask me for the winner, its very hard to look past Cause of Causes." YEROOOOOOOOOO exactly what we wanted to hear Gordy

CoCs said GE that tops it for me... :very_drunk:

Backing all GE ones in in this FC & Tric'S combo

Yeeeeeeeeessss.

Thrilled with Gordon .

Answered the question beyond doubt who he thinks is the number 1.

Cause of causes.

Since it’s a Saturday night I’ve got to go with the words of John Fashanu;

AWWOOOOOOOGA

Buzzing.

Feel the confidence all season and comments are all justified.

He's CLEARLY been better value all season.

Still is!

Haha Vatour. AWOOOOGA

Gordy has made my day with those comments
