Just seems extremely lightly raced.

They've always seem him as a chaser so packed him away early last year. No issues as far as i'm aware, just been bringing him along quietly

Ran in same race as Gold Present last year on 26 Dec. Nicky usually sends a good on to it. Others include Radjhani Express.
 
Have asked Hills to add him to their 'to win any race' market so will see what they come back with..

Just wondered if there had been an underlying problem or he was difficult to get ready really.
 
Betfair Hurdle on Saturday, historically a trial for the county..
Looked back over the last 20years of the Betfair (1997-2017) placed horse only (first 4 home in the Betfair)
of those horses, 56 have gone on to compete at the festival (same year)
34% of those have won or placed in their respective Fest targets(County,Coral,Supreme, Champion) and if you increase this to 5th placed finishes at the Festival the stat rises to 45%..

Make of it what you will guys...its only a stat i worked out for a bit of fun...
 
fancy barra e/w here if it showed up. could go for the coral. second to lets dance last year in the mares novice. ran a cracker there in leopardstown after not running since november. mares allowance as well. could end up in the coral cup but think that might be a bit far for her

I think this is a great shout. Backed her last week and couldn't believe the 28/1 available. One definitely on my shortlist.

cant see it in the betting on any of the sites. who was offering 28-1 if you dont mind me asking?
 
There is no mares allowance in a handicap.
 
Was 28/1 for mares handicap at Leopardstown on Sunday.

Seamus Mullins is plotting a spring campaign with Chesterfield - with the Randox Health County Hurdle at Cheltenham as his first objective.

Having won at the Grand National meeting and the Scottish Champion Hurdle last year, Mullins is hoping for something similar again.

He has not run since being beaten 10 lengths by champion hurdler Buveur D'Air in the Christmas Hurdle.

"There's simply no point in running him at this time of year, he can't go through the ground," said Wiltshire-based Mullins.

"He can just about handle soft, but any worse than that and it is a waste of time.

"He won't run until the County Hurdle now, that's his first aim, and then Aintree and Ayr again.

"Of course, if he manages to win the County Hurdle that might have to change, but that's what we're thinking.

"The County should be perfect, a strong pace where he can get cover and he's won there before."
 
Chesterfield has certainly been dropped to a generous mark very quickly by the handicapper (I'm very surprised tbh). He finished the season winning a handicap off 143 and subsequently raised to 148. He's only run 3 times this season and the handicapper has dropped him to 140 which you could argue is very generous indeed.

Will the Cheltenham New course suit Chesterfield more than the old course?

The trainer says he has won there before.,... but that was as a 4 year old back in 2014?

I'm not convinced by him at Cheltenham even with the generous rating decrease. If anything, after his winter break, the Cheltenham race may bring him on for Aintree and Ayr again.
 
The new course should in theory suit ex flat types or flat bred, only 2 flights of hurdles in the last 7 furlongs puts the emphasis on flat speed,in theory.
