Close Brothers Novice Handicap Chase 2018

Divine Spear unlucky to be dropped based on last run and will need bit of luck to get in now.
Nicky's other horse Rather Be won by 17l on bridle (admittedly getting bit of weight) but kept on 143.
both surprised me.

I hadn't realised the 'capper left Rather Be at 143 but assuming that's true, and this is his target, he has to go there with a huge chance.
I expect Love Racing to be scrambling for oddschecker on seeing that....

I quite fancy movewiththetimes for this - is it better to take the NRNB BOG 10/1 with 365, or guts out 16/1 with betfair?

Also in Plate so personally Id go NRNB

Any chance Sizing Tennassee goes here instead of the JLT or RSA? Form this season against Yanworth, WC and Black Corton would give him a very good chance even if dealt a hefty weight.

Had him written down for a while this season, just waiting to see where/if he turns up at the festival.

He goes for either the rsa or 4 miler. Tizzard says the reason being he dosent like running any novices in handicaps.

Can someone please explain why The Storyteller is 16/1 for this and Snow Falcon is 33/1 when the latter will be much better suited to the likely better ground and there is nothing between on their running at Leopardstown? (in fact, I would argue Snow Falcon ran like the better horse and would uphold the form anyway)

They will both be rated above 145 I'd say BoF so not eligible for this.

haha - trying to work, someone asking me irrelevant (ie non horse racing) questions and moving too quick. I was on the wrong thread - should have been the Plate. Will repost. Thanks FM

it's that time of year!

I did think that was the case.

.......get some work done!!:devilish:

Any chance Peregine Run sneaks in here? Defeat of Rathvinden in his last run working out well.

I think I read that the owner or trainer had done a bit of a u-turn and this race WAS now on the cards..... not quoted on oddschecker, but PP are 16/1 NRNB

He has a sniff of getting in as long as Phil Smith goes easy on him. My concern would be his 199 day break since his last run.

Rated 145 in Ireland and likely to be the same here.It all depends on the ground; Peter can get them ready first time out and he was never going to run on winter ground anyway. He's in good form but my sense is they may not go.

He finished behind Rathvinden at Galway two weeks previous giving him weight then beat him off level at Kilnarney last time out so I dunno if that was Rathvinden just running for fitness tbh.

Lack of race fitness would be a concern but he needs faster ground so there probably hasn't really been an oppurtunity to run him.

Have taken 16/1 with PP anyway

After race at*Listowel Sat, 16th Sep, 2017 (1st)**He did a nice piece of work this week so we thought he might be in better form than he was in Killarney. We will do more of the same with him and there would be no trouble going up in trip. He was getting lengths at some of his fences. He jumps and stays and I just hope he stays right after all the trouble that he’s had.**W P Mullins
