Cheltz Fest 2021 Behind Closed Doors ?

Just renewed. The best part is being able to use rewards4racing points, therefore I only paid £168 quid. Fantastic value, roll on October...

Yeah great point ryan.
I had almost £400 in R4W credits so my membership only cost me about £130.
I’d urge anyone to look throuhh the R4W partners for any online purchase, at Christmas alone you can rack up hundreds of pounds in rewards but your average takeway (Dominos, Just Eat etc) give you a few quid but any mobile phone contract or utilities transfer is worth a tidy sum and can go a long way towards paying for race trips/memberships...

Definitely, when I moved house I racked up plenty of points when buying appliances and furniture

Hopefully they'll stop that by making everyone provide ID on arrival. Think they'll just give 1 ticket per person on general sale so as to stop touts. They simply have to.

They don't do this, i have a son that 'benefited' from his mates membership for a few months while his mate was working away, he was never once asked to provide ID, he just scanned in with everyone else. The membership had a photo of his mate but he was never asked to show it.

Needless to say he has his own membership now

I think there’s ID for track and trace and making sure anyone that goes racing, football etc this winter is supposed to be there.

I will need to check the terms of Cheltenham Membership, but for football if you use someone else’s season ticket you won’t get in.
Lots of chatter on fans forum about it at the moment.

Agree, things will have to change or else it'll be s right mess. It may mean longer queues and people buying off touts or using others tickets will be turned away but it has to be done.

It reminds me of the Man United fiasco some time ago, when it was understood that a lot of people renewing season tickets for Old Trafford had been dead for some time.
They were being renewed by the deceased’s families at the discounted rate against normal Matchday ticket pricing and then each match sold at full Matchday prices for a big profit.

Not sure that’s still going on. :devilish:

It won’t work during this season though. as the dead can’t put in for a ballot to go, and ID themselves at the ground - can they?

I think you’re right SW in that there needs to be more control and recording of data from attendees and that makes sense, but I had a ticket (actually it was a wrist band !) for the proposed Goodwood trial at the end of August and I was going under a members name and she had completed the track and trace info in advance online.
I hadn’t appreciated the importance/significance of this at the time but had the meeting been open to members as was planned, I would have accesses the course under someone else's identity.

This is clearly wrong and I hope the authorities at Cheltenham find a foolproof system, with the infection rate going the way it is systems have to work or we risk closed doors/cancellation...

Im actually leaving ante post betting on cheltenham alone for a litte while, the governent are now restricting “gatherings” from 30 down to 6..sounds like all the increase in hospitality is coming round to bite the gov in the arse!

Could actually see a cancellation, or at the very least behind closed doors if you think about it..only 6 months and its slowly creeping up again?!

I do think it will be restricted attendance in March but not behind closed doors. Positive tests have increased but increased testing has a lot to do with that. Apparently if the same amount of testing was being done in March/April we'd be having 100,000 positive tests a day ! Death numbers a day are now single figures and hospital admittance is minimal. Things are getting better despite all the negative media .

We might not have full lockdown again but what you’ve said is nonsense
It’s not like the virus has started to have the odd day off.
Hospital admissions will creep up and so will deaths.
We’re about 4 weeks behind Spain and France in our cycle.
The number of tests is a very tenuous explanation, and they’ve not increased that much either.

As Donald said - if you didn’t do any tests you wouldn’t have any cases

Cheers, another article on Covid absorbed.
Doesn’t really explain what happens next though.
And that’s inevitable, although the plan is obviously to try and manage the second coming without the need for drastic measures as before

I thought Samcro was the second coming........

No crowds allowed at Donny for the rest of the week:sorrow:

So annoying these racing trials keep getting hit at the last moment, if ever there’s a sport that can safely accommodate large ish crowds and maintain social distancing it’s racing.
I just hope the decision to hold fire on spectator trials is a very temporary one, racing and literally hundreds of pro/semi pro sports clubs are on the brink without paying fans...
