I got told a couple of years ago the horse has blood vessel problems and needs a good rest between races, rarely runs well if back out soon after a race.
If he has 2 or 3 months between races he's a different animal, hacked up in the festival Plate, got done in a photo at Aintree last season and wasn't a million miles behind Cue Card in the Charlie Hall, if he gets there well rested there will be worse 25/1 shots, or 12/1 shots come to that....

I backed him at 33's last year for the Ryanair but it was a shame he didn't run, he would have been upped there judged on his Aintree effort.

Although a combination of Shaneshill (JLT), Bellshill (Albert Bartlett) or Volnay de Thaix (JLT) are in around 30% of multiples

FM - I tend to steer clear of the handicaps until weights are out and even then I'll listen more to what's discussed at the preview evening and who has been running with the handbrake on for the year.

Yeah true.
Davy Russell gave us a serious rundown on the Irish handicappers last year, he went on for ages about one of Tony Martins who he said had been deliberately run up the back side of tiring horses, whip air shots from the jockey, he said on one occasion the jockey threw his whip away the horse was responding so well, great entertainment and useful info....

Asked how many horses he would be running at the Festival, Nicholls replied: “Not as many as normal, that’s for sure. We’ve got some nice juveniles for the Triumph and the Fred Winter but most of the other [novice hurdlers] aren’t good enough or strong enough or done enough yet this year.

“There’s no point running horses just for the sake of turning up. If they’ve got no chance, I’m not going to run them. You’ve got to be realistic.

“We have still got some really nice horses to run, some nice horses in the handicaps.
