Cheltenham Wednesday Thread

I'm going on the assumption that Barry Geraghty would say he had a great chance, even if he was riding a wardrobe, and hoping SDG will prevail.

It looks like plenty of backers think defeat is out of the question for Don Poli, I don't think I would take the current 13/8 for anything in this race, personally I think DP could get outpaced in this, he could be too far back to bring his stamina into play, we shall see.

I think the Mullins combination accas are also playing a part with DP's price, so don't be fooled by it.

Champagne Fever out.

I am happy to replace CF with Lac Fontana @18/1 for Coral Cup if everyone is ok with that.

Kings Palace - RSA
Lac Fontana - Coral Cup
Arabian Revolution - Fred Winter
Moon Racer - Bumper

Looks like a good ew shout on the acca, Moon Racer being heavily backed

Tom Scude is a teriible jockey. I can't belive he is Pipe's no1 jockey.

Nap of the meeting. Arise, Don Poli, you are my new favourite, and next year's winner of the GC at 25/1. Lazy article, but never got really outpaced leaving himself too much to do, which was the only worry I had. Windsor Park was a nice hors d'oeuvres, too.

And can I just say thank you to all the people on this site who've been putting preview night details on. Seeing as I only really bet at Cheltenham and Aintree, and the big NH races through the year, I feel a bit out of the loop sometimes. But I've spent hours poring over the info on this site, as well as the form, and it's made such a difference.

Aux Ptits Soin just came in for 3 out of 3, and it was reading the preview nights which gave me the confidence to back the horse despite my worries about it's inexperience. Cheers guys.

Sprinter was a superstar, one of the best ever, I was surprised the team didnt retire him immediately after thar Kempton race, I suppose tgey were hoping he wud come back, just hope hes ok after that today.

would have been extremely bad form to make that announcement and take the limelight from the winner.

I expect the announcement to be made over the next few weeks.

Massively disappointed with Sprinter. Somersby has hardly improved at 11 so a poor enough renewal. Dodging has been the form horse all year. Liam called it.

I would agree that this was a poor renewal, with Somersby finishing so close, he's been a good horse but never a great one. I was listening to Ruby yesterday and he was asked which horse he would chose to ride now CF was out and he immediately said Dodging Bullets, that prompted me to have a few quid on thankfully. They mentioned SS to him and his answer was that he would love to see a return of the old Sprinter, but they don't come back.
Regarding SDG Gary Moore said he thought the ground was too fast and he was disappointed that they hadn't watered but when asked about the ground the other day he said it didn't make any difference, now he says the horse needs a bit of cut. I think SDG ran a decent race under the circumstances but you can't have a broken prep for a championship race, we know that now, should have known before.

Kicking myself about yesterday. Couldnt let go of my own bias against DB. Nicholls should have been backed blind in the Fred Winter too.

Quick word on the Wednesday. The stars were aligned for Paul Nicholls, and I simply can't have that Champion Chase.

Happy for Dodging Bullets to have collected a prize, but he may well be the worst winner of the QMCC for many years. Some may disagree but with Somersby and Special Tiara in behind,it's not great form. I feel that a fit Champagne Fever could have dictated his own fractions and won handily.

Excited to see what comes of Nicholls' Coral Cup winner next year.
