Cheltenham Preview Nights 2018

Always a few sociables in Birmingham Hennesseys sports bar whilst watching Monday night football, hoping to earn a few extra £££s for fest with a few scorecasts. Cracking venue too

It's at Cheltenham Town FC now. used to be at The Royal Oak, Prestbury but I think they let Mark down one year and the football club works well.
It's run by a guy called Mark Ball, who used to head up the Lets Live Racing syndicate, he disbanded that last Summer but is continuing the preview evening, always a great night but always a sell out weeks beforehand.
If you're keen next year let me know and I'll order extra tickets.

EQ QUIGLEY - top pundit "Longshot Ted" from the Racing Post & ATR
JERRY McGRATH - jockey attached to the powerful Nicky Henderson yard
TOM BELLAMY - Jockey attached to Alan King, Nigel Twiston Davies & Kim Bailey yards
MICHAEL SHINNERS - Racecourse PR Manager for Skybet

I left very early and watching the rest of the night on YouTube looked like a few else did. Terrible venue and unfortunate that Ricci and Harvey couldn’t make it. there is a definitely a decent number at these things who just go to down the panel - weird when Kealy is the best tipster at the RP and Jennings is pretty handy too. Some people seem to think they should get 20/1+ shots suggested that are bulletproof for each race.

Think I’ll stick to watching the streams and just going to the Let’s Live one at Cheltenham FC next year. What is it that Davy Russell is meant to do this year since Presenting Percy won?

Any others we know about? I know Corals usually do a studio one involving the 'hilarious' Couch.

Are any of the starsports ones streamed as they tend to have good panels?
 
Sorry, I was meaning their live evenings - there are ones this week with Davy Russell, Richard Johnson, Mick Fitz and Ricci’s racing manager, Joe Chambers. The one with Chambers should be very interesting so close to the festival.
 
I alway find preview nights strange, nearly always I have made up my mind whom I like for each race and have already backed them all before the preview nights start, yet I still watch everyone of them, not to find another horse to back just to see if they selected what I have picked, normally not :(.

I just enjoy watching them, as it's about Cheltenham, while I'm waiting for Cheltenham :highly_amused:

Like yourself, I'm mostly done with betting by the time they come around.

ATR preview streamed on Wednesday. Hopefully, there will be less juvenile stuff from the Podcast team this year.

OLBG preview streamed a week tomorrow.

With all the no racing on at the moment i should of spent some time going over previous years festival notes looking for trends! Bit annoyed i missed the chance there. IE: Who provides the best insight. I think i saw that T Mullins was mentioned as being quite reliable.
The data must be there!

For example i watched the star sports previews yesterday with Toby (hendersons assistant), dont think i have seen him before?
 
Really looking forward the Davie Russell talking about Presenting Percy v Monalee. Unless I have missed something, have never heard him comment about his choice,

His choice was made prior to dublin festival, at that time Monalee had fallen on it's last start. I'd say on that level alone that if they asked him to commit at that point as they wanted to let someone else ride in dublin if he couldn't. Then the choice was simple.
The most interesting would be if he's honest in stating which he would ride now, if he had the choice.
