Cheltenham Handicap Shortlists

My mate had the lot on him last year at big prices, so was gutted when he got injured.

Thinking about it he's a massive bok, because he was all in on Fountains @ 33/1, too.

I've backed him NRNB for the CH this year, so that looks like some money I'm getting back ;)

Never a nice feeling. So did I...

Was impressed with Beware the Bear and the change of tactics seems to have improved him a few pounds. Depending on how much the handicapper puts him up I have him down as a good chance for the Ultima. don't really want him raised beyond 148/149 though.

The Organist - Pertemps.

Another in the green and gold. She finished 5th in the Coral Cup last season and looked like a step up in trip would suit. She has already qualified for the Pertemps, when finishing second at Aintree, so it looks like her target is set. There was 33/1 about a week or so ago but that has been taken. 25/1 still available in a couple of places.

I like The Organist for the Pertemps. I tipped him up last year for the race after he qualified but they switched him to the Coral. He was running on strongly into 5th in the Coral and I felt that they'd put him in the wrong race. I believe he was told to go there as they had the plot with Glenloe. I think the only race they can win at the festival is the Pertemps so lets hope his owners let him take his chance. I just slightly concerned it should have been his year last year?

I was of the same thought Doctorwu, though did back him for the Coral and got the place @ a nice price, think the Pertemps would suit HER better.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, Worth the risk at 45/1 with lads too imho

Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet.

Le Prezien - Grand Annual

Was backed off the boards for this race in 2017 but only finished 8th with S Twistor-Davies on his back, last year was again backed down from 16/1 to 15/2 and pretty much romped home with B J Geraghty on him.. stormed clear towards finish won by 4 1/2L. 20/1 for this again and still only an 8yr old. been running in G1 & G2 races since. likes cheltenham & soft ground.

Paul Nicholls & John P McManus combo

Hopefully he will get me out of trouble again this year..

Speculative selections but I’ve had a free bet ew treble with Skybet Nrnb

Theatre Territory - Ultima - Has run well around Cheetham and I’m sure Waley - Cohen will be hopeful he runs well again

Cuneo - Pertemps - Not really a plot after winning qualifier in Ireland, but 1st try at 3m, battled well, I’d like to think he’d have a chance if he turned up

Glen Forsa - Close Brothers - Again, not really a plot, but reminds me of stable mate Mister Whitaker, has won his two chases nicely, would like to see him run at Cheltenham before though to see if he handles the track

Followed you in with a couple of free fivers now into 16s

Must have been suspended on Ladbrokes a few days as was suspended when I last looked to get involved. Thanks for the 40/1 in the shop head's up FM but think I'd prefer the 33s with cash out option....I'd go to the shop for 45s

He doesn't go anywhere else though does he? It's a big percentage difference just for the added security of cash out.

I backed him at 999.0 for the Gold Cup :highly_amused:

I'd actually forgotten that the 40s is any race, but was thinking 33s with 365 as the target does look highly likely. I've made a rough calculation that I'm willing to take up to a 20% price drop to have the cash out option (is 18% in this case), in part as the likelihood of a non-runner is likely to be in this ball park (20%) although maybe a little less now as we get nearer the Festival

Sorry if this has already been mentioned , when are the initial entries for the handicaps is it the start of feb ?

Usually about 3 weeks from the festival with weights announced a week later

Glenloe in the betting for the Close Brothers @14s!
Rating of 144, up to 145 max allowed for the CB. Poor run at Plumpton and does it sneak in here. And would you fancy it here??

Someone come up with the answer because I can't see a race for this horse.

With Tedham going down the handicap route today - maybe the Martin Pipe?

I’ve done a .5U
Moon Racer (pertemps)
StoryTeller (coral)
E/w double think the targets are clear
