I wouldn't put a line through any of them really, obviously Aso the least likely but Ventia is on a roll.



The only one I'm on already for the Gold Cup is Footpad, but I'll probably have a look again at the "to win both race" specials for the top 2 in the market.



...and if Harry picks Cyrname over CDO and CDO drifts to 5/1 then I'll just back him each way and settle for that.

Very good race. Had given up on my Ew bet on LBAR but actually think she could run into a place if Kempton doesn't get too much rain.

Cyrname has beaten what I considered THE best horse in training, fairly easily.
He's fav for the King George and although not the perfect trial as we all know, they also don't have a bad record and you would HAVE to imagine a King George winner takes in a Gold Cup (after he wins that Ascot race in Feb)...



I am really starting to get tempted with the KG/GC double for Cyrname (obviously noooo chance he runs in a Gold Cup if beaten in the King George) but I can't really see why I wouldn't fancy him for that hugely now.... having beaten the horse that I really fancied.



He reminds me of Might Bite in a way, in that people were skeptical about how because he'd bascially been rubbish and a bit mad until iot just clicked for him..... on all the evidence we have now, Cyrname is THE best horse in training isn't he?




So, what are the best King George/Gold Cup double prices anyone?

Not going to repeat the entire first post and he's now joint fav with Lostintranslation for the KG but the rest is still true? LIT is a best price 10/1 to do the same double so it's value relative to that in isolation?


I suppose it'd be foolish to ignore that the owner is fairly well recorded as saying he doesn't care as much about the festival as everyone else does...and I do fully expect him to win the race G1 Betfair Ascot Chase on 15th Feb this year... but the Gold Cup is 13th March so running in that definitely slots in nicely unless they skipped it to go to Aintree?

Nicholls is not a wimp though:devilish:, if he's got the King George winner, he lines up in the Gold Cup suuuurely?



Cemented the idea that I like the 'related double' so moving on to the price

He's now best price 16/1 to win the Gold Cup as a single. Currently 15/8 for the KG - so less value at 33/1 than if you do the double yourself but that's impossible. Rolling up the winnings from the KG is another option but he's surely going to half in price for a GC if he won a KG... so I think I'm on the right lines here that it's a decent price?






The big negative is that he's not proven to have the stamina for 3m yet, let alone 3m2f. The other is the right handed thing but Quevega has convinced me that's going to be more Call More Lord than solid fact.



Perhaps it's just because LIT is so short relative to him but I'd feel pretty silly if the highest rated horse in training does win a King George having considered this bet for so long so I'm almost obliged to take it already but wanted to know peoples thoughts on him?

Thats a good find.
33-1 is excellent for one of these types IMO as I couldn't imagine Nicholls not wanting to try him in the Gold cup if he wins the KG.
I bet I can only get £2 on though:grumpy:

Think I might back Clan des Obeaux for King George on price grounds so having this also, is useful.

Quite fancy Clan Des Obeaux as well Kev. Won last year albeit not a vintage renewal and ran very well on return in Ireland but I think he just tired which seems to have happened with a lot of Nicholls horses needing the run.

Definitely looks the value in the race with LIT and Cyrname so short.
 
As anticipated Al Boum Photo is among the entries for New Years Day at Tramore for the Grade 3 Chase over 2M5F.

He used this race as a prep race prior to his next outing when winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

It’s been upgraded from Listed to Grade 3 this year.
 
Looking forward to seeing ABP.

Can barely believe he's double the price of LIT myself. The latter looks one of the poorest antepost prices of the whole week to me. He's beaten Count Meribel and Bristol de Mai a length and his half the price of the reigning champ who still very much has time on his side.

Agree totally, I like LIT as well but ABP is the reigning champion and should be priced accordingly on all known form. If he wins at Tramore then maybe it will settle down.
 
For all that the stable insists that there's nothing between them at home, Kemboy has twice started at a shorter price than ABP when they've actually been in the same race.
