Cheltenham Gold Cup 2018

In my new approach this year of sticking to my budget I've 4 points per race. I've 2 (plus free bets) on Might Bite, and I've 2 on Our Duke. I'm all set

That is how I used to do it.

The reason I stopped is because i ended up with the same amount on an even money shot that I was confident about (big bucks/quevega) as I would horses I'd no idea about in handicaps.

It did work though

Hopefully our duke and road to respect show up in the Irish Gold Cup, should make the picture a fair bit clearer. Having previously been in the Yorkhill camp (and still a believer he’ll one day win the Gold Cup) I now think Might Bite has it there for the taking. The bare form of his last race can be questioned but I was encouraged with how he ran and think there was plenty left in the tank. Fits all the trends also so seems pretty solid. Killultagh Vic got plenty to find on ratings but can see why Willie giving it a go - if he goes in just with Djakadam then he’s surely never had less of a chance of winning his first Gold Cup

I'm assuming road to respect dosent go as he's been on the go and booked his gold cup place I'd assume.

Disko, kilultagh vic the ones to beat imo

Coney island would be up there but if I'm honest I think connections may side step this race with a view to something like the red mills at gowran over 2m4 then make a decision ryaniar or gold cup

Just hope it’s decent ground otherwise it could cut up massively. That kind of test on heavy ground 5 weeks before the festival wouldn’t be too attractive. Disko was my first bet in this race way back, any improvement that the trip might eek out and he should be right there

Just noticed disko is no longer there. Now that's a worry.

That is strange. Entries not til next Tuesday but removed from the betting?

Yeh I diddnt realise entries weren't out. I haven't seen anything to think why he's been taken out the betting.

Could just be an error. Either that or they’re in the know. Nothing else anywhere to suggest a setback or change of plan

I hope he does go as a positive for the race as a whole.

Disko has had a slight setback according to the RP, so will be heading straight to Cheltenham if ready. I thought he'd have a chance in the Gold Cup, but wouldn't be confident now given the amount of time between runs:

"Noel Meade's Disko was going to prep in the Irish Gold Cup but a slight setback has ruled him out of that and if he is ready in time he will go straight to Cheltenham"

That’s not positive. Was hanging my hat on the fact paddy haven’t even priced up KV for the Irish Gold Cup yet

Not a positive at all. In not sure he will go gold cup at all now tbh. Shade unlikely

Can’t see it. Connections have road to respect as their Gold Cup hope I guess now as well, maybe it will be easier to get him fit and make more sense for him to be aimed at the Ryanair now if anything

I don't think Coney island will be a runner in the irish gold cup also so looks likely iv just got kilultagh vic for the race.

If road to respect runs and wins im probably going to have to play him ew in the gold cup.

Not the most inspiring race currently

Thats ehat i was thinking as well but he wants 3 miles. They said they made a mistake running him in the wrong race last year also......
