Just put the profit from envoi allen on EL BARRA (ricci) I'm a big fan of robert tyners and he recommended this lad to Harold Kirk.

The top lot will now join the ranks at Willie Mullins' Closutton base after Harold Kirk set a May Sale record when going to £280,000 for El Barra, who finished runner-up to Fury Road in a Dromahane maiden under Derek O'Connor earlier in the month.

Kirk. "I really liked what he showed on debut and he came highly recommended. He looked classy and showed a lot of gears despite getting beaten - the winner got first run. I hope he's lucky."

"He was recommended to us by Walter Connors' head man and once we'd seen him we had to have him," said Tyner. "He seems to have a lot of ability - and he knows it!

"We like to give them an educational run so we weren't disappointed when he finished second. We knew we had the best horse in the race. The winner of the race had experience and kicked entering the straight when we were still 30 lengths behind."

Who owns Asterion Forlonge?
 
I've cashed out half stakes in Envoi, and spread amongst Asterion Forlonge, El Barra (well backed today) and Shadow Rider.

Fair to say the Bumper market has got itself into a right muddle this morning and the traders don't know what to do. Bet365 put EA back in at 10s and quickly cut to 7s.

Also a fair bit of money for Mt. Leinster. He was never going to beat Malone Road, but could have been closer if they wanted to. As I said at the time I will hold onto this ticket for a while and see how he comes on for the run.
 
After reading all the posts today i think im done in this race till the day.Im sat on Mt Leinster40/1,Asterion Forlonge33/1,Malone Road 20/1, Energumene50/1 so hopfully im covered.

Ive cashed out Envoi Allen and just about doubled my money. Always a nice feeling! This brings a whole new dimension to antepost punting, as picking ones that will shorten is an awful lot easier than picking ones that will win at the Festival!
 
Looking through this forum on this race in particular, and has everyone only backed Irish horses for this? I currently have Envoi Allen and Midnight Run both at 33s but was looking through the English form and one caught my eye. Alright Sunshine looked impressive winning his bumper, the second has since come out and won and the 5th finished a much closer 3rd next time out. Can't see him currently listed anywhere but one I'll definitely be looking out for.

The Irish tend to hold the strongest hands and most of the major PtP purchases are being trained there. The only English bumper horse that caught my eye was a week or so ago I posted:

Although not quite as impressive as some of the early contenders from Ireland, Tom Lacey had an impressive winner of the bumper at Ascot on Saturday called Hazzaar. He travelled into the race nicely but was a little green and took a while to put the race to bed. Some things to note that may or may not prove useful:

1.) The horse was backed into favouritism despite never seeing the track before.

2.) Noel Fehily took the reins.

3.) I’ve since read quotes that Hazzaar is as good as they’ve had in the yard (Up there with Sebastopol).

4.) Although Sebastopol blotted his copy book on his debut over hurdles, most would agree his bumper win at Ayr was impressive.

5.) They are considering coming back to Ascot for the listed bumper.
 
Say god forbid malone road is injured and misses the festival, and Gordon sticks to his plan and keeps EA at home. Who then in your opinion is the bet in this race and why? If I were a gambling man I’d say it’s odds on as of today neither line up in March so there must be some value in the market to be had ?

If Malone Road and Envoi Allen don’t line up then I’d say we’ve not seen the winner race yet.

Therefore it’s a case of finding the unraced Mullins horses who fetched big sums from the PtP scene, backing them at big prices now and hope to catch the right one. Worst case you’ll have some nice prices to cash out as most will no doubt win their debuts and be cut accordingly.

:encouragement: I haven't read any sentance I've agreed with more in ages.

Maybe ante-post punting isn't as dead as the Racing Post would have you believe :highly_amused: - enough people on here debunk that lazy throwaway comment (although I appreciate it does sound like it was a lot easier as little as 10 years ago!)

Back to Mt Leinster... that 2nd to Malone Road might be the best form we've seen still :p

I have El Barra on my watch list scoob after flagging him up on the P2P dossier, I have him marked in yellow meaning he is one to keep a very keen eye on.

The bumper entry at Punchestown for Sunday is interesting.
The John Magnier owned horse for Mullins that I can't pronounce or type looks fancy. Kchou du pecos AA
Anyone know owt about this ?.

He was bought years ago as a store. Only the lads at home know if he's any good.
 
I see Paddy Power has a price up for Shadow Rider @40's but no price up for both Asterion F. and El Barra what do you make of this ?

They will price up horses upon request so it probably just means no one has requested the other two.

Never an intended chelt bumper runner, but interesting Battleoverdoyen entered over a 2m + 2m7 in maiden hurdles
