Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

C’mon Kev. It might, you can’t completely dismiss it. Any horse rated over 150 come the Tues of the Festival has a chance in the Arkle, and anything rated over 155 has a good chance. Fakir and Laurina look very good but one or both might go JLT. I wouldn’t be surprised if this group (and Mister Fisher) prove to better than Al Dancer and Getaway....

Not saying much there though are you ?
Nicholls has even entered Grand Sancy in the Henry Vlll for his debut over fences, which would normally be very interesting (and I was interested in this horse earlier in the season).

But now it just says to me that he thinks Getaway Trump is shit. Which makes Al Dancer a little bit shit.

Although if he is declared I'll be watching closely.

Grand sancy deffo runs too.
If it's any help.

I had him backed at 40's with 365, and after they ran ot over hurdles and it fell i cashed.
They've taken it off the shelf since.

Bit disrespectful that nicholls chased a couple of pay days over hurdles with it, so can't be expecting much.

But cheers for the heads up (even though there's no guarantees).
As it's still an interesting runner for the weekend for sure.

Arkle 2019 = Debacle
Arkle 2020 goes across the water again

Quite likely, I agree. But I think it’s but much to say the race will not “may” have no bearing come March, when we’ve only seen a couple of runs at best from the main protagonists.

Yes, it might.

I did say none of them get my juices flowing....

I don't need to put "in my opinion" at the end of all my opinions, in my opinion.:devilish:

Nube Negra, Torpillo, Al Dancer, Getaway Trump are all worse than Fakir D'oudaries and Laurina (and Melon). The British one I do have a huge amount of love for now is Fanion D'estreuval after his superb chase win...

Let me get this right?

You are questioning me for saying that Nube Negra, Grand Sancy, Torpillo that run this weekend aren't good enough to win an Arkle?

I'll stand by that aaaaaall day, week, month, season.

I don't think any of those 3 are good enough to place. They aren't on my mind for it.

I also don't like Getaway Trump or Al Dancer - but one of them could be good enough to place at least. I'd say Al Dancer is the best horse in terms of an Arkle in this post.

All about backing your own opinions though TCH29, I wasn't having a pop!

Chill!! Neither was I. It’s a forum. I just calmly said that I thought it was a bit much to say it “will” have no bearing on the Festival. It probably won’t, but it might. These are horses who could easily be rated 155+ come March.

Think it was a perfectly reasonable point. I don’t think they’ll win either but I recognise I can be wrong and think it’s a bit much to say they definitely won’t, for reasons already explained.

Not sure why you’re so defensive.

It’s a forum; you yourself posted a while back about people being open to different opinions and not shooting others down...meant to be a friendly welcoming environment. Someone even posting in the vein of “you’re questioning me...” is surely a bit much too?

Am I missing something here?

Maybe it’s me misreading it. It’s just every year there are races won by horses, who back in Dec, people weren’t proclaiming had much chance.

Like you, i’m sure, my book for the Arkle is lent towards Laurina and Fakir, but I also think Nube Negra and Mister Fisher could be quite progressive and could be in with a shout, although likely restricted to a place at best, buy am happy to have them on board at 50s, and am keen to watch the race as if Torpillo bolts up it massively franks Mister Fisher, and if Nube Negra wins comfortably, he’s in the frame all of a sudden.

Grand Sancy will win the damn thing now.

Only outsider from the UK side that I now like (for the Arkle) is Vision Des Flos.

Think I've made a small case for him already, but he's gone out to 50's (from 40's) since then due to a seasonal chase debut loss to Champ!!!

Since found out, he actually was found to be lame in his left hind, so along with his over keenness and that it was a fair run for me, for a trip I personally don't think is his optimum.

Just noticed a special with PP. What race will Envoi Allen run in at the festival? Supreme 6/5, Ballymore 11/8, CH 5/2

They also have one on Honeysuckle....5/2 Churdle and 1/4 Mares. Not that they have any more clue than us lot of course!

Tone of my post must be wrong because I am chilled, I was asking for clarification because I was wondering if what you'd said was exactly what you meant.

My opinion is that race will not affect the outcome of an Arkle.

Obviously, it might ... but I thought that went without saying... as I was giving my opinion?

Perhaps I worded it wrongly, apologies if so.

Closer than I'd have thought! Not going to back anything but Ballymore is my opinion still!

5/2 for the CH is the worst antepost price going in any market

Yes me too, was never planning a bet was just intrigued at the prices and thought people would be interested.

A chance for the stable staff who had backed him in the Ballymore to get their money back :devilish:

Agree about the CH price there... what a joke. Does suggest they haven't made any firm decision to me though.

Just deleting emails and Samcro is in my ATR tracker.

That isn't how you're supposed to use a tracker is it :highly_amused:

Does anyone use one properly?

I haven't for ages now... probably should again.

As a young man you are able to rely upon your memory plus computer literate , the older you get ......

I’ve been a pen and paper man for years until now and I love my tracker where I’ve recorded every horse and ante post bet placed .

400 horses to date, beats buying a diary and watching replays continually

What am I replying to, who am I replying to ?

:)

I use my tracker basically as a reminder for Mark Howard and Paul Ferguson’s books; if they mention specific races for a horse I stick them in etc etc
