Yes I couldnt agree more. Very funny season so far and I dont think its all down to the ground. I too believe Mullins and Elliot may have gone slightly easier on their horses so that they are peaking for Feb rather than the previous method of December. Suppose it makes sense.
I feel very underwhelmed with the horses I've seen so far... struggling to see too many potential superstars just yet.
As an over arching point, we're in a bit of a trough probably in terms of the NH game in general.
The novices haven't been 'all-that' for two years now, this crop look no better than what we've seen recently either.
The star performers are Altior (superstar)
That's probably it! Behind him, we have Un De Sceaux and Faugheen, and I'm sure we all love them, but they're both past their best... Buveur D'air has never caught the imagination and although I'm a fan, you can see why he's not celebrated as a superstar!
There are others, but 2007 to 2012 was some of the best National Hunt and Flat racing that has ever been. Feast and famine, rough with the smooth...
but the next superstar, hasn't hit the track yet over obstacles...
