RIP Malcolm Jefferson. A great trainer and a great man.

Hopefully Waiting Patiently can do him proud in the spring.

Very sad news. Didn’t realise he had cancer and chose not to fight it

The storyteller 25/1 ew for the flogas. Thankyou very much 365

EW Lucky 15 (Ladbrokes best price on all 4 horses) 2985/1 (Not NRNB)

Countister - 10/1
Apple's Shakira - 7/2
Santini - 12/1
Might Bite - 7/2

Thought process being that Hendo seems keen in his blog that SHakira is still a Triumph horse and the Countister is aimed at the Mares novice race...

12:40 – Countister (Barry Geraghty)
I’m hoping this will be an ideal prep for the Trull House Mares’ Novice at Cheltenham so she would need to win this if we have any chance of going there. She was very impressive last time and is a beautiful filly who I have a lot of time for.

APPLE’S SHAKIRA also looked good and pulled well clear in the end and Barry said he can’t wait to ride her on good ground. Her jumping is so slick and I loved the way she travelled, even if she was a bit further back than ideal, but she picked up nicely and the Triumph is still high on the agenda.

Santini is a risk of being a Non Runner but I've decided speculatively to include him at the big price... and Might Bite is obvious.

A good end to the week for Hendo?

Keep in mind countister is not a cert tomorrow. I hope she is on potential but the form book says not yet.

I was slightly surprised to read Nicky say she'd (Countister) have to win the race tomorrow to be going to the Mares Novice. Against the boys and Ainchea being a decent yardstick. He must clearly rate the Mares Novice is a decent standard this year?

Same but I like it.

Very controversial but if she wins this tomorrow and cruises home. I would be extremely happy and see her bang there.in the mares novice.
De rasher counter was a fair yardstick but he wants further ainchea is solid for his mark.

'high on the agenda' not the strongest steer I have ever heard. If I had backed it I think I might have preferred 'on target for the Triumph'.

I could be completely wrong but I get the feeling due to the last few years of the high profile switching targets of Mullins in particular, trainers now seem to always be putting a caveat into most statements on a horses target.

Henderson on Apple's Shakira there (high on the agenda)
Elliott on Samcro (Ballymore the plan right now)

They really cannot make a straight call for fear or backlash of a change. For me Samcro still goes Ballymore without doubt, Apples Shakira still goes Triumph without doubt.

It's just a case that say the following happening:

1. Countister disappoints tomorrow
2. Dame de Compagnie has another setback and doesn't make the festival
3. Espoir D'Allen destroys the field in the Irish Juvenile this weekend

Imo then, and only then would Apple's Shakira be even considered for the Mares novice for Henderson.

My point being I'm not sure we are really going to be getting targets declared by the likes of Elliott, Mullins and Henderson up until declarations without an added "at this time", "most likely" and so on...just to cover their back. Just my take buti'd be more than content with Henderson saying the Triumph is high on the agenda for Apple's Shakira

Well, Henderson didn't seem to have much problem binning the Albert Bartlett for On The Blind Side even though he would have won it. Seemingly couldn't get the information out quick enough.

It was the owners son that actually tweeted about it first, and if the owner or his family tell the world the plans then really it doesn't matter when Henderson tells the media.

What a cracking weekend of racing we have in store, many anti post bets could be flying high or down the drain by the last race. but because of the ground I would not be ripping any of my tickets up after the race.

For me I wouldn't be betting this weekend but will watch every race to see if I need a few small savers on cheltenham.

Mostly looking forward to seeing Min vs Yorkhill, Samcro vs the field, CoC having a clear round, The CH race could be a sad race if the King get pulled up again & flogas looks a cracker plus many other races.

What race are you most looking forward too?

Well done Leopardstown....

Good luck everyone, I am sure 95% here will be glad to CoC running...

PS

Come on Eagles, ring one??....

The flogas for me as a spectacle . Exceptional renewal.
And will be huge form all the way through the race for staying chases.

Should be a very enjoyable and informative 2 days.

Absolutely SBA!

The Deloitte is the race I'm most looking forward too but the whole weekend is top class. In contrast to that, Buveur D'air is running in a tin pot race at 1/12!

About time they took the Contenders off the racing calendar. Ridiculous

Well where the hell do they go with yorkhill now

Puzzling doesn’t even come close to describing it

Won't be winning anything over hurdles either on that showing.
