Champion Hurdle 2020

You lot are mental. Benie is no Annie Power ! I can see her stepping up to Stayers but Churdle......no.

adorns my wall as of Christmas day this year.
All 4ft by 3ft.

Very nice!

Looks like I agree with Lobos

I don't think Benie Des Dieux is fast enough to win a Champion Hurdle myself, and I don't think she'll run because I don't feel like 'they' think she'd as good as Annie Power was.

I'd have thought Vroum Vroum Mag wasn't fast enough to win a Champion Hurdle though too, and she won a 2m G1 too in open company.

AP > BDD > VVM

She's definitely fast enough.
But we'll probably not find out.
People said the same about Annie Power.
And some fairly good judges thought Apple's Jade couldn't either.

Not an exact science but from jumping the third last to jumping the last at Cheltenham this year.

Benie did it in about 43 seconds, Espoir D'allen 45 seconds. Give or take half a second.

Slightly different trips and different pace early on, but I think it shows she can cruise with the best of them, and she was cruising.

Have a Pie with me Q and
Lobos can have a Loaf with Kev

Leave Benie alone

Yeah fair enough.

Me saying "I don't think she's fast enough to win a CH" doesn't even make sense. Of course she could be, what I meant was, she'd be more of a staying type than a speed type.

I feel like people forget her win in the race... In touch, in last pair 6th, headway 3 out, driven to chase leading trio after 2 out, went 3rd at the last, drifted left when challenging run-in, led final 120yds, stayed on, driven right out (op 4/1)

A lot of "driven" for a horse blessed with more speed than stamina.

Doesn't stop her doing anything, but I've always felt she leans towards stamina over speed because of her festival win.

Her cruising and falling at the last doesn't change my opinion too much

It would depend on the pace and ground etc,

and I agree that her first mares hurdle was a thorough staying performance on heavy ground, but she possibly was not quite at her best that season and her runs since have been a lot more "travelley"

If you get what I mean.

I think she's shown both traits now.
Class is class. The good ones can do both.

She's 12/1 NRNB with Fred?

Yeah, I get you.

She'd be loads shorter if she ran wouldn't she?

I bet you back it... then I will.

I've got her already at 100+ from a few weeks back on the Bex ;)

Ah, you've gone for the value loser.

I'll go for the "tie up my funds for no gain".

Were there any quotes for Summerville Boy after today? Longer trip or a crack at the CH?

Have him at 150/1 for this race, and see he is now shorter for this than the Stayers, so I'm hoping the shorter trip is the one.

Think Tom George said they "won't be going shorter with him" so it sounds like the stayers to me....

Think I tried to tell you stayers at the time.
We'd have got 66+ if anyone had asked for a price, and he looks like one that could improve for it and at least place.

You did, I had already backed without cash out though, so was unfortunately no help at the time. It's not the end of the world, only small stakes at such a price, was more hoping for a live one at a huge price, but I have others backed for the CH so no drama.

Saldier drifting like a barge

I'm not sure I'd read too much into it just yet but seriously contemplating cashing out again (this time for full stake) after backing again at 7s on Saturday. I really like the horse but with 5s NRNB available I don't think it is worth the risk at present if you are on at this sort of price

Saldier drifting like a barge

Hardly. Hes around 10/1 on the exchange. Which is about right. I wouldnt have an interest backing him win only NRNB at that price, let alone antepost.

Get hovering over the cash out lads .... sorry said i wouldnt mention it again!!! lol
