Champion Bumper 2020

What if you'd seen the work/practice stuff with your own eyes? :p

If Patrick SAID what he would ride now, it'd be Appreciate It, but whether that's what he'd actually ride, I'm not so sure..... he'll always SAY the safest option.

I've just added PoP at 50/1 in the hope he runs again and wins to book himself a spot on the ferry....

For me though, realistically, Ferny Hollow and Power of Pause have done the same thing, and we're trying to make excuses because we backed them before....

Easy to take the positives when you're backing up your own bets... :highly_amused:

I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Fallon rode one year refinement I think it was and wasn’t spencer on rhinestone cowboy?

Won on Pizarro 2002 beating Rhinestone who should have been given the race. Stewards were paid off.

Ah yes beat the cowboy

And of course murtagh nearly winning the stayers

And that’s why I have my moniker...was a long wait in the rain waiting for the official result and capped off a thoroughly miserable day betting wise....thankfully not had one like that since although did have a sizeable break in between

I was on him too.....and the following year.....and the year after that. Smashed in every year but sadly never delivered !

I remember watching the race at about the 1f pole where there used to be a line of bookies away from the main ring, at one point I was convinced RC would be forced through the rail and would knock me and a couple of very drunk friends sideways.
Cost me a nice pick up but it’s OK I’ve calmed down now....

Great stuff guys, glad to know I’m not the only one left with ‘fond’ memories of that race...haha

Jockey used to take some stick.

Shit record for Mullins

Mullins runners in Bumper since the year Champagne Fever won it. Last 8 years.

The only one that got beat prior to Cheltenham to have gone on to win the Bumper for him.

It does show how unusual last year was too.

The runners in Bold were beaten in a bumper prior to running at Cheltenham.

Pique Sous and Sizing Tennessee were beaten in the valuable 60k Fairyhouse bumper in the previous April on debut. He must have had a habit of doing that for a while.

Food for thought.

Mullins has only won it 9 times....tut, tut.
