Champion Bumper 2020

It was interesting listening to Willies interview after the race yesterday.

Gary O'Brien asked him about the trip Appreciate It ran over on his first start.

Willie looked at him like he was an idiot. And pretty much said...

It don't matter what trip these younger horses run over, if they're good enough they're good enough. You just get them out and see what they've got. It's only when they get to the top class that trips become a little bit more important for some horses.

I've heard him say this sort of thing for years and often trot it out on here as a lot of posters place too much emphasis on novice race distances. It doesn't have a lot of relevance for hurdlers and bumper horses for sure. At least not as much as some people place on it anyway.

Unfortunately I can't find it on demand on racing tv or I'd have posted it.

For anyone on Panic Attack she's been bought by Bryan Drew....according to son Harry Drew. Not sure if moving over to England. Presume so.

Moved to Pipes.

As impressive as he was 9/4 would probably represent the single worst price I have ever seen for a non championship Festival horse 5 weeks out without NRNB insurance...

Only be going in some multiples, but not as a single that short now. Probably easy to say as have him at bigger though.

Couple of multiples but that's it - looks like he's got a fantastic chance but the bookies are a joke these days win by over a couple of lengths and price gets hacked every time :dejection:

I mean, he fairly bolted up against pretty much all the best Irish bumper horses this season. He was plenty big enough straight after the race still, but has clearly come in for a lot of understandable support.

On this occasion I can see why the bookies would look to cut him plenty.

Absolutely no chance. I think some people (not aimed at you Ista!) get overly worked up by trying to find the winner of EVERY SINGLE RACE, losing sight of what is sensible. I would happily let him win at that price without kicking myself that I'd missed a winner. Some horses that are bad value will still win, but it doesn't make them a good bet as following them all in will not work out well in the long run.

Yeah you're right about his performance against a class field and in this instance it is probably warranted more so, but the price slashes are just getting worse and worse every year :concern:
 
U had him in a couple of doubles already at 12s but now ive gone IN! I was very impressed and why be cautious after hes put a lot of good ones to bed there
 
Not sure if it has been mentioned but Panic Attack has gone to Pipe from Willie for Bryan Drew.

Was the last Mullins one I backed. Finally threw the head up and talked myself out of Appreciate It last week, not touching it now at 9/4! Will she still come here?

I'm still hoping Willie will throw in POP and Ferny Hollow. FH still entered this week?

Ferny is still entered, decs tomorrow AM.

No idea, i didnt bother asking him on twitter. I'd imagine so. Unless they head to Aintree for the mares race.
 
When are the initial bumper entries released, is it this week?
 
Jane Mangan mentions a bumper horse on the latest FFP that has an entry at the weekend.

Owned by Chevley Park and is supposedly the well touted - she seemed to really talk him up.
