Bryan Cooper at 16s the value IMO.

Ruby has the ammo to win it again and clear favourite but not sure Barry has this year. After Sprinter (who knows?) and Bobs (please yes) best chance looks to be Oscar Whisky. Don't think AP has big book either.

Sam TD would me my pick but only if each way available. Ruby wins this again.

Had a look on oddschecker earlier today. Ruby is probably on 7 favourites at the minute. I would say it will increase too !

Leading Jockey Award at The Festival to be sponsored by British Jeweller Boodles

February 18th 2014 - This year's Leading Jockey Award at The Festival will be sponsored by the London jeweller Boodles. The award, which recognises the jockey with the most wins across the four days of The Festival, will be presented during the meeting, once the winner of the award is so far ahead that they cannot be overtaken.

Michael Wainwright, Managing Director of the British family-owned fine jeweller, commented: "Boodles are delighted to be involved with The Festival for the first time.

"We have a long relationship with horseracing, having sponsored the three days of the Chester May meeting for some years and we have also created the Grand National trophies for many years.

"Although my own racehorse, trained by Tom Symonds, is not quite up to Festival class, I am passionate about Jump racing. We also know that many of our clients who buy Boodles fine jewellery are very keen racegoers and, for me, The Festival is the pinnacle of all UK horseracing Flat or Jump.

"We hope that the Leading Jockey Award will be fiercely-contested by all the top names in the game."

Carey Buckler, Regional Sponsorship Manager for the South West region of Jockey Club Racecourses, added: "I am delighted that Boodles are partnering with the Leading Jockey Award for this year. Although they are previous sponsors within racing, they have not partnered with Cheltenham before and I'm sure that they will find it very rewarding.

"This year's Boodles Leading Jockey Award will provide an interesting narrative throughout the week."

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL 10-YEAR LEADERBOARD (2004 - 2013)
Jockey Total £1 levels Chase Hurdle NHF Non-hcp Handicap
Ruby Walsh 35-193 +£1 11-85 22-98 2-10 28-122 7-71

Recent stats

2013: 4-20 (20%) +£16
2012: 2-22 (9%) -£19
2011: 5-18 (28%) +£11
2010: 3-21 (14%) -£12
2009: 7-20 (35%) +£2

Overview: It will be interesting to see how Ruby Walsh fares without Paul Nicholls’ supply of rides, but with Willie Mullins traditionally amongst the winners at the festival, Walsh will still be a force to be reckoned with – for the record, Mullins and Walsh have combined for a record of 14-61 (+£18).

Such is the consistency Walsh has displayed at this meeting in recent years, punters could have actually made a blind profit of +£18 on each of his rides since 2009, though not many of his victors came outside of Graded level – his record in Listed events reads 0-21. The Irishman also boasts a superior strike-rate in hurdles at 22-98 (22%, +£22) compared to chases at 11-85 (13%, -£42).

Walsh has been a reliable pair of hands on runners arriving at the festival in top shape having won last time out at 29-104 (28%) for a handsome level profit of +£42, reading much favourably than those he rode who finished second or worse last time at 6-89 (-£41).

Chase thing is a bit of an oddity ...Dont think he has won a Chase since Kauto Stars Gold Cup ? Probably down to Nicholls not performing and Mullins being more of a hurdle yard

No chase winners but has won 14 other races at the last 4 festivals.

I suppose you'd be disappointed Master Minded got beat twice as favourite but he never quite matched his early brilliance and Walsh did nothing wrong. Poquelin was beaten favourite in two Ryanairs but we can say now he was never quite top class. He had three attempts on Kauto Star. In 2010 as odds on favourite he fell but it's interesting that he was already 'too old' (statistically) to win another Gold Cup at that point though.

Between 2003 and 2009 over fences he won 1 Arkle, 2 RSAs, 2 Gold Cups, 3 Champion Chases and 4 other chases. Nothing since then.

I don't think there is a poor ride in that list statto.
I think it will be interesting to see how Nicholls gets on this year tbh. He has been good at pot hunting this year but I have doubts about most of his Festival team.
