Ballymore (Previously Neptune) Novice Hurdle 2018

You may well be suprised, differnet track configuration, more runners, theres only one no hoper in moyross. They won't plan on setting it up for ND.
cracking smart is a very good horse the race wasn't ran to suit last time, Blow by blow, speak easy, duc des genievres Athenian all have claims. go too fast and get suckered into an early battle And even jetz finishes well.

I'm not suggesting it's going to be a penalty kick Scooby. Just don't think it's vastly different to the race he won last time. If he produces that run again, he wins.

We shall soon see. It's alot less black and white than that for me. I really like him but i Was hoping he would be 1/2 so i could lay him today. There a difference between really liking him and what price I think he should be. He's around an even money chance for me today.
And I do obviously want him to win.

I think the market has it right now with cracking smart. He was too big ew at 9/1

Yep really looking forward to this. Should be very informative.

He's 1/2 now Scooby!

All i have to comment on that is he did his job and iv gone back in on cracking smart Albert bartlett

Slightly less impressive repeat of last time. Think that makes the Ballymore much more likely myself. Perfect AB trial again by Cracking Smart.

Great run from DDG on debut. One for the notebook.

Agree that Cracking Smart the one to take out of that race. Kennedy backed out of things on Blow By Blow pretty quickly, hopefully thinking about his mark for the Martin Pipe :devilish:

Exactly how I saw it Rob!

To be fair apart from jetz being at the front they went how I thought they would bunched up and diddnt set it up for ND he was in front early enough for him.

Will they not think that Samcro would have brushed aside Cracking Smart easily so be tempted by AB? Even more so on nicer ground..

Agreed on DDG, travelled into the race well.

I'd be more than hopeful of Cracking Smart reversing that form over 3 miles.

My only issue with that is whether or not 3m on spring ground will be any more of a test than that today? They went a pretty solid gallop and PT seemed to suggest it was a real slog? I'd totally agree CS would have beaten him over 3m today but wouldn't be so sure in March?

I was really impreessed with how economical ND was at his hurdles. For a big staying type, he's very slick.

The winner was very good. quite taken with cracking smart. Ive backed him for the Potato race, and I've taken at bit of 33s for this race. Extra furlong, faster gallop, and the hill. Wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he turned up here. 80/20 potato race.

I think something would have to happen to Samcro for them to even consider running Cracking Smart here. To my eye he looks perfect for the AB, even that might not be far enough :devilish:

Not seen the race .... what's the fallout. Is next destination's next destination the AB now?

Glad to have gone back in on CS for the AB by the sounds of his run too.

Samcro backers pleased? I am based on the bare result but in no position to comment yet

Quite surprised ND is still available at 8/1 for the Ballymore. Still four times the price of Samcro which I find unbelievable

FM,
You would think that'll be the case but Its not a given that Samcro runs here. We've seen it many times before. Yes he looks likely to be here and CS in the potato. Im just covering all angles. Samcro could win this supreme Imo.

If you go on a line through jetz samcro is the better horse he still had something in the tank aswell. But he diddnt have the other horses of ability around him to make it more of a test, did jetz run run exactly the same race against samcro, nobody knows. He could have improved for experience and race fitness.
Also the talk has always been ND wants decent geound, iv no idea if samcro does.
Until samcro is fully sound and steps up its all a guessing game relative to there prices.

I find it very hard comparing them that literally though. When Jetz ran behind Samcro he was only half a length ahead of Delta Work. Would Delta Work have figured in that race today? I'd be surprised.

But agree Samcro has beaten Jetz more easily.

Mullins said: "He's improving all the time. It was a very slow-run race and, tactically, it was a lot different than we thought it would be.

"His jumping held up under pressure over the last two and he was in front far enough to withstand the late challenge of the second horse.

"I'd imagine we'll find a race at the Dublin Festival at Leopardstown (February 3-4) if it's not too soon.

"very slow run race" The Ballymore will be a much sterner test come march. Just a thought.
