Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2019

Quevega,
I tipped Dunvegan up on the AB thread. I stated that I wasn't sure which route, if any, he'd take??
What are your views on trip.........

Don't really know.
But this or bartlett I'd imagine. Smallish yard so may go for this ?
Ran in some good bumpers and gave swordsman 9lb and beat him well last time, swordsman probably should have been 4th last time as well so Battleoverdoyen form not great although he did it well.

Mormon running in a minute and may well frank the form even more

Tornado Flyer is likely to head Willie Mullins’ assault on the Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle as he bids for an eighth win in the Grade One at the County Kildare course on Sunday.

The six-year-old made a winning debut over hurdles at Punchestown last month, after ending last term with victory in the Champion Bumper at the Punchestown Festival.

Come To Me and Getareason are the other two possible Mullins representatives.

“Tornado Flyer would look a likely one and there’s a couple of others that could run there, too,” said the Closutton handler.

“Come To Me was a good winner of his maiden hurdle at Cork a few weeks ago and Getareason is another that could line up. He ran well at Navan over this trip last month.”

Is battleoverdoyen an intended runner still?

I would like Tornado Flyer to win the Lawlor's though.... should go shorter than Champ given the Mullins record in the race.

Yep. I get the BOD form isn't strong but he won very easily and will improve plenty for the step up in trip.

I still think TF won't run in this. (Lawlors)

And then Champ can go for the Albert Bartlett.....

Thoughts on Palixandre for this?

Ricci's horse in training with Henderson. Has multiple entries this coming weekend and suspect 2m will be too short for him so logically this would be an option IF good enough.

I'd NEED to see him jumpinh a hurdle before I could get excited about him - showed nothing in his bumper, so at the moment he's only even remotely notable because of the owner.

I agree regarding the owner power.

Will be a watching brief for myself too.

Agree with this in terms of the form line. However, he jumped extremely well for a horse making his debut over hurdles and just powered along. He had to work a bit harder in his Bumper but that was after a long lay off and , at least, that form has worked out pretty well with both the 3rd and 4th (beaten 12l and 13 1/2l respectively) having won since (the 2nd hasn't run)
Have to say that, if he runs, three races in just over five weeks, for a horse than had been off for more than 18 months, seems pretty aggressive but they are probably trying to see where they are with him. I think he is an exciting horse.

BOD could be very good, but it looks to me that Gordon has had several disapointments with his novice hurdlers and they're desperate to find a good one. If BOD gets well beaten sunday they've nothing really left. I think they're clutching personally.

I think Gordon could find one to improve for the longest trip in the bartlett, and as usual he'll be well there in the handicaps.

Agreed, Gordon loves a handicap at the festival doesn't he! I am sure there will be plenty of teasing with regards to who goes where abd even more so wheb the preview evenings get under way.

Encouraging for Brewin'upastorm backers (me), from Olly Muprhy "I left him in the Tolworth by mistake, I thought I’d taken him out already,” Murphy told Racing TV.

“He’s come out of Newbury very well. I told Richard Johnson to take his time and it was probably the wrong thing to do coming off a slow pace and I thought he finished his race out very strong and hit the line well.

“He’s a horse to look forward to. We’ll probably go to Cheltenham in three weeks for Trials Day and then we’ll probably go for the two-five race in March.

“He’s a horse with little experience, it was only his second run and it was in a Grade One. To be beaten just four lengths, I thought it was a good performance and he’s a horse to look forward to.”

Not overly surprised by these comments as a bit of market support for him in this since getting beat the other day. I've also backed him and will be more than happy if he manages to line up in March, no big expectations with this one

His run the other day was quite notable IMO. Had previously said about him in this thread, done his best work at the end, as he will in the Ballymore but with a better pace to aim at as that Challow Hurdle was a bit farcical with no one wanting to make the running.

He was one of my first bets of the season but I just can’t see him reversing the form with all the horses that finished ahead of him as they would all have been inconvenienced by the lack of pace too.

33/1 NRNB with SkyBet, should he not perform in the Ballymore Trial I doubt he'll turn up for the festival, has decent place prospects at that price though.

Would agree, it was not exactly an inspiring performance, but think he would have been a lot closer (at the very least) than the bare result had it been run at a true pace, and Champ is 5/1 favourite for this race, so Brewin'upastorm must be overpriced.

Clarenden Street runs tomorrow so will give a small form guide to Birchdale debut performance. He’s odds on so should win easily but it will be good if he wins well for any Birchdale backers.

Good to see if he wins. But birchdale beat him very easily. And should be on to bigger and better things.
