I noticed Draconien's wins only came on right handed tracks and when tried on a left handed he fell, so I hope he starts his chasing career on a left handed track, considering he will only have a couple of runs according to Willie.

In regards to Draconien, WM says he doesn't think he can run as often as Footpad and will have a much tighter schedule.
What would you expect his campaign to be, the not as often suggests he could have the same amount of runs as footpad but more time to recover, however the tighter schedule seems to contradict this.

You'd imagine he would take in a beginners chase and then either the 2m race at Leopardstown at Christmas or at the Dublin Racing Festival. 2 runs before an Arkle would not be ideal.

Was thinking the same regarding the beginners chase, potentially Navan on the 25th November.
A tighter schedule would suggest maybe starting off late and having a few runs in quick succession before the Arkle.
Have a feeling we wont be seeing him on the 25th at Navan.

My first ride on Sunday is in the Arkle Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase (13:50) and it is an exciting one on the Philip Hobbs-trained Defi Du Seuil. He was a really good juvenile hurdler and while it is always tough for any juvenile going into open company the following season, he just didn’t fire in his couple of starts last season for whatever reason.
He seems in good shape now though. I’ve schooled him twice over fences myself and was very happy with him. When I got off him after winning on him at Aintree as a four-year-old, I remember saying to Philip that he would be well able to jump a fence if he wanted him to, so now is the time that we get to find out. I’m looking forward to him.

He got the job done nicely at Uttoxeter on his chase debut and I think he will have come on for the run. I believe he’s an out and out two miler and he should bounce off the ground but taking on the likes of Defi Du Seuil is a completely different ball game. He’s in great form however and it will be interesting to see how he fares upped in grade.

Interesting JM thinks he is a 2 miler! Connections seem less confident about that, having seemingly put the JLT up on Twitter!

I really Don't believe that's his trip and think he'll step up to the jlt however.
I'll be smashing the 18s any race should he win to save having to even think about it.

Not as plain as that. Highway one o one goes particularly well on very soft ground. He's beat a 150 horse in dolos there who's had a recent run.

Good move ComplyOrDie. PP shortened too. I have been quite surprised that Willie talking about Draconien in the same breath as Footpad didn't draw more support as he doesn't often draw parallels like that

I did think of that when he won. You'll learn more on his next couple of starts. He's suprised me
“I'm very pleased with him,” said Mullins.
“He probably wasn't as sharp as he was in Galway. Paul just thought the bigger fences and bigger track just made a difference. It just takes a bit more jumping around here than Galway.
“I'll try and keep him to that kind of trip.
“I'd imagine we'll go for something at Christmas. We'll keep him to the minimum trip and we may look at the Racing Post Novice Chase. I don't know if he's good enough to do that.
“I don't think there is anything in Limerick and we'd like to keep him on better ground.”

Probably be about right Scooby, I have a knack for picking the right horses for their wrong races, Shattered Love being the big, regrettable example last season!
