Arkle 2019

100% no doubt he hasn't jumped a fence yet. Obviously there is doubt.

Doubt he will run on Saturday either.

They wont want to run their horses on watered ground - I promise you

They run at cheltenham on watered ground, quite often.
I'd imagine some tracks are more trustworthy with regards 'even' watering than others.
And some races are more important/valuable.

Interesting, what factors do you take in, just horse ability?

While i've backed him i'd find it hard to price up a market where a Footpad could appear unexpectedly. Also the fact he hasn't run over a fence, and hasn't been seen in over a year??

On ability alone. Hes the size and the scope. I personally completely assume they can jump a fence. Until proven otherwise.

Cilaos emery is the footpad.

I personally like le richlebourg the race with delta work was very good and very close for me they are the 2 best Novices I’ve seen this year In Ireland

On what we've seen so far Le Richebourg is the best of the Irish. I'm going to say Delta Work is Gigginstown's best novice chaser, so any form line with him looks good.

It's all on how Cilaos Emery gets on now, but I have the Irish form over the GB form, a question I posed on here about it a week or so ago.

A pretty strong trend in general that the Irish have better novice chasers...

There have been 16 Novice Chases in the last 4 years (obviously), Arkle, JLT, RSA and NHC, the only UK based winners we're:

Altior (2017 Arkle),
Minella Rocco (2016 NHC)
Might Bite (2017 RSA)
Blaklion (2016 RSA)

4 out of 16 - 25%

Lucky to claim Jonjo O'Neill as a win for the UK too in my opinion. :highly_amused:

Too small a sample to get giddy over but it's noticeable

Think the only reason LR isn't fav is the potential switch with DDS.

Have to agree with Scooby on CE, at the start of the season he was the one I wanted to see an entry for when he did I got round all the Ladbrokes in the city to get on in shop.

He had by far the best profile for this before the season started for me, the long lay off and lack of info about has been a worry and still is. I remember Ruby making a few throw away comments last season that made me sit up and take notice. Hopefully he runs at the weekend and BOLTS up, my antepost book could really do with it!

In an ideal world for my own bets CE could find a race outside of the Dublin festival.
Then atleast le richebourg would still be going there with valid claims too should he take that.

If CE gets 1 in beforehand then goes there then so be it. Id expect him to beat le richebourg ...... which hopefully wouldn't send the latter to the JLT

Is it your biggest position for the festival?

CE is my biggest bet. And biggest winner. Yes.

To clarify that paisley park was, but backed to cash. Iv now cashed 80% of that for a free roll. As I think he'll get beat by black op in the cleeve.

Must be some lump on that, if he wins you more than Adjali :highly_amused:

Almost want him to win, even though I win more from LR, lol.

I'm not adverse to taking a risk on a few . Found it hard to stop backing him at 28s any race. When rightly or wrongly I genuinely have him down as a favourites chance .

Top rated over hurdles has a huge record. As does mullins. And he's a good bit better than anything else in the market was over hurdles. Add to that his size and scope. And him alwayd looking a chaser. If it dosent pay off, then so be it. But I know it's the right bet.

You have convinced me scooby
CE
Angels breath
And one for a Trixie
Any suggestions folks?

He should win that beginners chase easy if he runs. Looks very poor.

The most important part of that :encouragement:

There's a few live ones in there of Gordon's to be fair, if there was to be a little rain and he ran. But I'd expect him to win any race against any of this year's novice chasers, so would be no excuses from me.
