Arkle 2018

On movewiththetimes Nichhols says:

He will go novice chasing and we are hoping he will make up into high-class individual. He will be a two miler although we will stay further.

That helps me a bit at least

Its a real shame Melon stays hurdling as he looks tailor made for chasing and an arkle in particular.

With Mullins keeping him over hurdles and possibly Cilaos Emery too, bar Bacardys who looks to want further it makes me wonder if he has a horse in mind for the arkle already. Possibly Chacun Pour Soi.

Chacun is a keen runner, I would be surprised if he went further than 2.
Him and footpad not a bad team. Foot pad may go 2m4 but 2 miles off a strong pace and a hill would suit him.
Not a high profile one at all, and no idea if he goes chasing but bleu berry travelled really well in his race over 2m4 behind bacardys finians and Death duty, id be of the opinion a stiff 2 miles would be his trip,

I see Chacun Pour Soi wasnt even talked about on the Mullins ATR stable tour

Kevin blake has a set number of horses to ask about at his own choosing. Unfortunately he can't ask about them all. Especially the novices when there's 40+

Movewiththetimes/ sceau royal a decent match up for Cheltenham on Friday, both intended runners at this stage. North hill Harvey also entered .

Movewiththetimes also entered in a potentially hot Novice race at Exeter on Tuesday as Yanworth, Sternrubin and De Dollar Man are all entered (I doubt many of them will run though).

A bit of money for Capitaine for this race, has an entry Friday at Cheltenham, and I'm not surprised the money has come.

I keep going back to this market, thinking I have missed something, but it really looks weak. As has been stated by many on here a LOT in the current market won't contest this race or even contest a race over fences this season, if word of their respective trainers is to be believed. Capitaine certainly represents value for a race that is likely to fall apart in numbers.

I can't believe Capitaine is as short as 14/1 for the Arkle.

I will have to back at 33/1 just to trade out but what a dreadful race :highly_amused:

There for the taking with Defi Du Seuil/Charli Parcs :devilish:

Both staying over hurdles I read?

Brain Power is definitely going over fences, so he could be of interest.

That is what I mean, I am surprised they are....

It does back up my belief that Finian's Oscar will turn up here though..... has the class to win this based on having only Petit Mouchoir as a credible opponent so far.

I did see Brain Power is going chasing, but Hendo wouldn't say whether he'd go 2 miles or further....

Ah sorry, missed that.

Yeah true, thankfully I've covered FO enough for this race now should he turn up, but personally I am still hoping they got JLT route.

Unsure on distance for Brain Power, but he is more than covered by PM on hurdles form anyway.

I can't believe that price either. Another over-bet Nicholls pig Imo. He'll be winning NOTHING at the fez with that horse.

Maybe the Grand Annual. Couldn't entertain him for the Arkle.

Speaking of Arkle Winners.... Yanworth is running in the same chase that the mighty Old Guard won :devilish:

Has to go down as one of my worst ante post bets:highly_amused:

No one seems to have mentioned River Wylde from Hendos yard , feel he is being slightly overlooked. Nicky certainly rates him highly and his Cheltenham run was eye catching ,could well be vying for favoritism after he runs a couple of times. Currently around the 25/1 mark with betfair

I can't have River Wylde either. I just don't think he has the class to win a race like the Arkle. He was third in the supreme but I suspect that the supreme was below average (apart from the first two), and then was well beaten at Aintree. That said, he's 25/1, in what looks like a very open renewal.

I'm not too down on River Wylde but he was really late on my radar for the Supreme that I've kinda forgotten about it again. I respect Hendo to have him on the radar but I would suggest caution regarding the target.... Henderson did mention he won a P2P and they hope he gets further....

He is one of our most exciting novice hurdlers and after winning two novice events at Ludlow we took him to Kempton for the Dovecote which he won really nicely. He ran another excellent race in the Supreme Novices’ and didn’t run up to his best at Aintree but remains a horse of enormous potential. He is such a good jumper that we will send him novice chasing this season and being a winning point-to-pointer you would hope he would get further than two miles over fences. He is a horse that needs good ground and his season might well be split into two to take advantage of the going.
