Has AP ever had a better potential book of rides ?

Supreme - fook knows but JP will have something
Arkle - MTOY
Champion Hurdle - Jezki
mares - something in Mullins yard can't remember name
RSA - At fishers cross or something in Jonjos
Neptune - see Supreme
Champion Chase - maybe Simonsig if Sprinter also back (Ronnie Bartlett his sponsor) otherwise Defy Logic ?
Jewson - Minella Foru ?
Ryanair - Tarquin DS
World Hurdle - More of that
Albert Bartlett - see Neptune
Gold Cup - Holywell
Triumph - the one JP paid all the dosh for

Is Upsie the mare you were thinking about MG ? No where near good enough if that is it.

More of that wins but dont see any others.

Mullins had the best bumper horses and will probably win 2/3 novice hurdles.
Annie Power wins the mares.
Vautour the Arkle.
Faugheen the champion.
Dont know what wins RSA but couldnt have AFX on my mind.
Simonsig and Sprinter will be kept apart in the unlikely event they both make it back.

Ruby will have the best horses at his disposal again.

TDS could win Ryanair if going that way.

Hargam the champs triumph horse ....

noises seem to be MTOY will stay hurdling.

Defy Logic out for the season.:(

AP fans can kill an hour at work with this ;)

Looking ahead to Sunday and we will have another go at beating Hurricane Fly at Leopardstown with Jezki. Hurricane Fly bids to match Istabraq’s record of four Irish Champion Hurdles and he is nine from nine at the track so the stats are against us. Leopardstown just seems to suit Hurricane Fly and the ground will probably be pretty dead and testing after Christmas – which will suit Hurricane Fly more than Jezki. Looking back to last time they met, it was the closest Jezki has got to beating Hurricane Fly at Leopardstown, so from that point of view if we can make the same progress again then we have a chance of beating him, but you can’t knock Hurricane Fly. He is an exceptional horse.

Better ground does suit Jezki and I really felt that last year when I won on him at Punchestown. He really came off the bend and quickened, whereas when I came of the bend at Leopardstown at Christmas I felt he kept at it rather than quickening.

Looking at the Stan James Champion Hurdle picture, there is no doubt that Faugheen is a smart horse. He looks a proper horse and it is testament to him that he has won over three miles and then over a sharp two miles at Kempton over Christmas. The New One managed to win on Saturday but I don’t think that Haydock is the jumps track that is used to be. It is no longer a nice galloping track and is much sharper and tighter. A horse like The New One can look unimpressive there and I would forgive him the run. Haydock doesn’t suit every horse and better ground back at Cheltenham will suit him.

JP McManus’s team for Cheltenham is starting to come together and we have Jezki for the Champion Hurdle and More Of That for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle. Jonjo has been happy with him and he has had his wind done. Hopefully, somewhere along the way, he might have a run before Cheltenham to ready him for the defence of his crown.

I have Harry Fry’s Jollyallan to look forward to. He is a horse of enormous potential but needs to brush up his jumping, while Arkle hope Gilgamboa won nicely last time and has been going about his business well. He could run in the Irish Arkle this weekend but needs to progress again.

Shutthefrontfoor and Carlingford Lough are both going to be entered for the Irish Hennessy, but I would think that race is more likely for Carlingford Lough and Jonjo will see how happy he is with Shutthefrontdoor before making plans.

Some clues emerged as a large number of top-tier trainers convened here on Saturday for Imperial Cup day, possibly most significant among them the news that McCoy is expected to ride Uxizandre in the Ryanair Chase on Thursday. There is no great surprise about that, as Uxizandre carries the colours of JP McManus, McCoy’s main employer for years, but the jockey was allowed to ride against that one at last year’s Festival and beat him narrowly aboard Taquin Du Seuil, which proved to be the rider’s only success of the four days.

Taquin Du Seuil will also line up in the Ryanair but his trainer, Jonjo O’Neill, said he had booked Noel Fehily, having little doubt that McCoy will be on Uxizandre this time. Fehily has not ridden the horse before but will be given a chance to sit on him early this week.

Debate continues as to whether If In Doubt should tackle the RSA Chase on Wednesday or skip Cheltenham altogether in favour of the Midlands National on Saturday. Sara Hobbs, wife of his trainer, Philip, said McCoy favoured the RSA while the trainer would rather wait for Uttoxeter.

Frank Berry, the racing manager to McManus, said plans for If In Doubt were “up in the air” and would probably remain so for a couple of days. However, he said McCoy would be on Jollyallan for the Festival’s opening race, the Supreme Novice Hurdle on Tuesday, rather than Alvisio Ville, for whom a jockey is yet to be decided.

Berry would not confirm that McCoy’s final Festival ride will be on Ned Buntline, favourite for the Grand Annual, a race which will be named after the jockey for this year only, but Berry conceded that it seemed the most likely outcome. “It’s a long way from now to Friday,” he cautioned.
