I am going to try and post my Ante Post bets for the coming season. I am starting with a small betting fund of ?50
I have two bets placed for this weekend
Shan Blue at 4-1 for the Charlie Hall think he's 2-2 here and might go on to better things
My second one is for old favourite of Galvin in the Ladbroke Champion chase at 4-1
It seems like I have been following him forever and plan to stick with him for the time being, hoping at the start of the season he would have been my National horse but that is looking unlikely.
not sure if this is the right place for this balance left ?30

I'm with you Glasgow Ronnie on Shan Blue @4s. Cyrname is a monster on his A-game, he was part of one of my biggest winning days when he beat Altior but I'm not convinced by him at this trip or when he is taken on early (thought this was a very soft race last year when Vinndication jumped terribly). Shan Blue under Harry Skelton looks an ideal partnership to take him on in the manner that won them the Feltham last year.
Galvin likely has a fitness edge on the likes of Minella Indo but I just can't warm to his jumping. Hardly inspiring but I'll be looking at the physical condition of Coko Beach as a prospective betting without Envoi Allen angle on the same card.
Looking further ahead, I've taken a punt on both Coconut Splash (PP Gold Cup) & Straw Fan Jack (Greatwood Hurdle) who I think are on nice marks and value @ 20s/16s & 33s respectively. I reckon Protektorat is capable of defying topweight in the PP Gold Cup off 154 (providing it's not an absolute bog) but he's been well found in the market.
HIghly speculative I know but I have a few on my radar as potential Betfair Hurdle candidates and top of the list at this stage is Broomfield Burg.

I don't think I can say anything about Shan Blue, it will be interesting to see where he goes next all being well of course. Thought Galvin ran a great race in defeat, not sure if he is up to the Gold Cup standard but will review the race later.
I haven't look to far forward outside of Cheltenham but will start to look at some races over the next few days

Shan Blue is a stand out 16/1 with B365 for the Hennessy. The handicapper can't raise him as he fell 3 out. IMO he. Will be 10lb well in, if the Skeltons decide to go that way rather than wait for The King George

That's a great price, might be my next bet

It was a crushing fall. I'd want to know he was ok first .

Agree it’s a decent price given can’t get touched with falling before 2 out but do you think he will stay in a race like Ladbrokes? I don’t doubt he would of won yday but have reservations in a bigger field Hennessy, he looks too sharp to see out a race like that.

In the review of the race yesterday RP reported Dan Skelton "the horse is none the worse for his frightening tumble" and name checked the Ladbroke or King George as options.

The price has gone now 16/1 into 12/1. The reservation is fair as we don't know. But I'm happy sitting on 12 1/2 percent profit if I decide to cashout

Hardly “gone” if he rocks up on 148 and folk fancy him. Prob be 11/2 fav on day of lining tbf. Those accounts won’t last long nabbing with a view to cashing out pre race, hope you’ve got a few Pendil.

I'd wait a few days first. Hopefully he is ok.

Did anyone see nick luck on Sunday? Seen a snippet from Skelton saying the horse is ok but obviously he won't know for certain as the horse can't tell him, have I picked that up right?

Am i the only one that doesn't fancy Shan Blue over that trip?

Id be half thinking he fell because he was tired

Probably because Harry committed him so far out but he was so tired he couldn't lift a leg when falling

I've big doubts about his stamina but given he's now a general 9/2 for the Hennessey i don't mind as those happy to take on(like myself) he's taking a chunk of the market with a sexy profile now. Going forward a KG might suit albeit the class of horse on show will be much better than Saturday, the Betway bowl at Aintree come the end of the season I'd be very interested in thou.

Any Shan Blue slips, cash out. Wont race until the spring - Dan Skelton Racing on twitter

Max McNeill has confirmed Escaria Ten's to be targeted at the Betfair Chase. He has plenty to find to win it, but he's 50-1 for it, while Next Destination is priced at 6/1.

That's a huge difference on their NHC runs and one has to be wrong.

Given Galvin has at least proven himself as a G1 chaser, it beckons well that the 2nd and 3rd should do themselves justice also.

Taken the pennies i can on BF/PP

King George entries are out, I've had a go at Asterion Forlonge at 25/1 I think he'll really like Kempton provided they go through with it
