Albert Bartlett 2019

Think the AB will come waaaay to quickly for Dickie Diver. Obviously stacks of potential but couldn't be for me at this stage of his career

Santini was around 12s and 10s when Hendo said it'll come too quickly for him (Santini) .... before making a u-turn

I guess he's reasonably similar

Dickie Diver going to be some tool when he goes over a trip 3m+ this season and a absolute weapon when he goes chasing next season. This race is very much a open renewal so he might go for it , can see him placing at the very least.

Well I reckon he's a monster. Jumps like a sideboard and it just doesn't stop him - he ploughs on and just has a massive engine. Could be even better over 3 miles. I thought after his debut he was the one to beat and was shouted down because of his lack of experience. I still think he's the one to beat and although it flies in the face of the stats, I think he's a massive player here.

Yeah I haven’t given up hope - he tanked through the race (and a couple of hurdles) but never looked like not winning over a trip too short.

I can only think of Faugheen being good enough to kick hurdles over and still win at the festival.

Double figures though about a horse that looks blatantly obvious has the talent to win makes it harder to crab.

If he was a sub 3/1 shot is be against him pretty strongly but he's not ...

Don't like his head carriage.

I was and still am a big supporter of this horse
However also concerned about head carriage and jumping which may be attributed to lack of pace at which the race was run
Novicey v much so but huge potential

I’m not deserting , keep the faith
This year or next

I think dickie diver is one for next year, this may come a bit too soon.
In such an attritional race, I don’t like the way he pulls and if he keeps making those mistakes it’s bound to knock the stuffing out of him sooner rather than later in such a race.
The other thing I picked up on is he seems to hit the the ground pretty hard and likes to get his toe in.....id be worried if it was good ground and him letting himself down on it.
With all that in mind I think he’s a pretty crap price atm but if i was on at the bigger prices then id be happy to let it run.

What do people think of the previous winners profiles for the race. I cant even go for a pint in my local without someone telling me you need to of run 5 times to be considered for this race. Are we over playing that profile this year when horses have had less opportunities to run?

Hendo on Dickie Diver and Birchdale: “Dickie Diver is a lovely horse, a fine chaser in the making, but he has the raw ability to run a big race in the Albert Bartlett.

“He’s very professional and the step up to three miles will suit him. We’ll probably have Birchdale, another really nice horse, in the race and they're two strong contenders.”

French Holly use to bulldozer his way through the obstacles, remember him literally running through the last instead of jumping it in his (what is now) Ballymore demolition...

Before my time unfortunately... but I see he ran Istabraq pretty close so must have been a good'un!

Sounds like Santini fever all over again.

Dickie diver going to chepstow again. Whilst I am a proud Welshman, it isn't my fav track , which begs the question, is it a good track as a warm up to the festival. My own feeling is no, but it is undulating and it isn't the normal heavy, so maybe there is some logic.

yh run there twice .. and was also a nr there .. hasnt been much entered anywhere else .. most odd

I was lucky enough to be at Sandown when French Holly won the Tolworth (Grey Shot was favourite and was utterly destroyed) - I've never seen anything like it in a parade ring before or after. 18 hands high and an incredible presence. So sad that he never got the chance to reach his full potential - we'll never know but he could have been one hell of a 'chaser.

Personally I love Chepstow, a true NH racecourse , unlike the flat boggy bowl that is Ffos Las.
IMO
I’m also a proud Welshman and we both know about yesterday
:-)))
Don’t underestimate DD

i dont .. its just odd for henderson ...seemed particulary set on running there .cant recall that happening .. maybe it just fitted in with the placement

hmmm i see storm arising entered up this week from the race ///off 121 ...has shaped well

....Rockpoint underestimated for this according to Tizzard but EBF final at Sandown is an option the Saturday before Cheltenham (if it came up soft).

It looks like JP has 3 for this if Rhinestone runs so could Birchdale join Champ in the Ballymore.
