Does blaklion go for this rather than Neptune ?

Don't think the result in Warwick did much for VDR form.

Just had a look at him now Paz. Could go either way I think.

After race at Limerick Mon, 29th Dec, 2014 (1st) €œHe has great heart and battled back well. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards. He'€™s never going to be a horse that will win by more than a small margin. He was very tough. My mother did a great job after his fall the last day. It was a heavy fall and we feared the worst when it happened. €œI think there will be plenty more big days in this fellow. He'€™s not quite a Faugheen who won it last year. He'€™ll need to step up to go to Cheltenham, but in fairness he has been stepping up so far. Ms Margaret Mullins
After race at Cork Sun, 2nd Nov, 2014 (1st) He's good and tough and my staff and Danny (her son) have done a super job with him and Adrian gave him a great ride. I think he is special but all has to go the right way and he'll stay on the novice route now. He has won over two miles and three miles so could go back to two if you want. Ms Margaret Mullins
After race at Fairyhouse Sun, 6th Apr, 2014 (1st) I'm delighted with him. We'll keep him a novice for next season. He had a little problem last year and we missed the whole season with him. He had a bruise in his joint. We did a little job on him in Fethard Clinic and it looks good now. Ms Margaret Mullins
After race at Punchestown Sat, 27th Apr, 2013 (1st) he won his point to point and is tough, stays and gallops. He'll make a lovely three miles horse and he handles that ground. He should be a nice novice over hurdles next season and will go out to grass now. Ms Margaret Mullins

Another one o consider ?

TEA FOR TWO, the runaway winner of Saturday's Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton, will stick to novice company at the Cheltenham Festival, despite being quoted for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

The Nick Williams-trained six-year-old bolted up by 16 lengths under Lizzie Kelly and was made a 20-1 shot for the World Hurdle.

However, his part-owner Jane Williams - Nick's wife and Kelly's mother - said on Sunday morning he will not be entered in the stayers' Grade 1.

"I said yesterday the World Hurdle might be interesting because he's a novice and everyone criticises his jumping," she said.

"In a smaller field like that he wouldn't get knocked about or hustled and bustled, but I've got my other good horse [Aubusson] for that so I wouldn't enter Tea For Two in it, no.

"I'd have thought we'd stick to novice company."

Tea For Two is now three from four over hurdles and the easy nature of his win at Kempton shocked Williams.

"I'm not a very confident person," she added on At The Races. "I'd made up all the reasons why the other horses could win and we couldn't so I was surprised he won and amazed he seemed to win so easily."

Tony Martin would have sacked Lizzie for that ride yesterday

Talking in Monday jury in RP Lizzie said she thought Albert Bartlett might suit tea for Two best. First no cheltenham then World Hurdle now Albert Bartlett ...you'd be better off waiting for NRNB - that is mullinsesque !

Has Nick Williams had a festival winner ?

Mahler Lad entered to run at Bangor on Monday. Is me only ante post bet in this race so far. Looking forward see how it goes.

He was one of Mark Howards horses to follow - beat Bordini in his point to point but I am guessing you knew that :)

Donald McCain is another big supporter of Irish point-to-points and he has acquired a plethora of high-class recruits over the years, most notably the recently-retired Peddlers Cross. The Cheshire-based trainer has been active during the ‘off season’ buying fresh talent and arguably one of his most interesting acquisitions is the unbeaten MAHLER LAD. A length-and-a-half winner between the flags at Maralin in March, he beat a couple of Willie Mullins-bound opponents when in the care of Colin Bowe. Expect him to contest a bumper before being sent hurdling.

I followed one or 2 of Mark Howards as you can tell with me Ante Post bets. Other lot are me own. Usually gives a few good tips before Jump season starts : ) Need all the help we can get when Festival starts.

One jump ahead is a good read.

McCain form still ropey ?

Missed out on Very Wood in this race last year was in his book. Didnt back it was well gutted.

The trouble with this race is that they all have form on soft. Anything that will improve for better ground ?

Caracci Apache picks up the pieces.

A Henderson Saturday double.

Nick Williams is leaning towards the Albert Bartlett with impressive Lanzarote winner Tea For Two but he is likely to have another race before his Cheltenham Festival target is decided.

Part-owned by Williams' wife, Jane, and ridden with such aplomb by his step-daughter, Lizzie Kelly, Tea For Two turned the prestigious handicap into a procession last time out.

As a result the handicapper put him up 19lb to a mark of 153, effectively forcing him into Graded company, and Williams feels the Albert Bartlett may be a more suitable target than the Neptune.

"I think he's a stayer, and the trouble with the Neptune is that you have Champion Hurdle-type horses in there, whereas the Albert Bartlett is a stayers' race," said Williams.

"He will probably have another race in February."

Martello Tower could earn a trip to the Cheltenham Festival with a bold show in the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The seven-year-old has enjoyed a fine season for trainer Mags Mullins and owner Barry Connell, with Grade Three victories over three miles at Cork and Limerick sandwiched between a heavy fall at Navan.

Mullins said: "Our horse is good and seems well since Limerick.

"He's unassuming at home but he's a tough horse.

"He's coming back to two and a half miles and is going back the other way. He fell the last time he went left-handed at Navan so I'd like to see him jump well with a clear round.

"If he's going to go to Cheltenham he needs to be able to go that way round."

Trainer Gordon Elliott and owners Gigginstown House Stud team up with the exciting No More Heroes.

The dual bumper winner has won on his last two starts over hurdles, most recently claiming the notable scalp of Shaneshill in the Navan Novice Hurdle last month.

Big-race jockey Bryan Cooper said: "He has his chance, but it won't be a walk in the park, that's for sure.

"There are plenty of other good ones, but our horse is entitled to take his chance.

"He's favourite for the Albert Bartlett in Cheltenham, but I think two and a half miles around here on slower ground should be fine for him.

"We'll see what happens on Sunday and make a plan from there."

Champion trainer Willie Mullins has saddled the last three winners in Boston Bob, Pont Alexandre and Sure Reef and launches a three-pronged assault.

Speaking on his website www.wpmullins.com, he said: "Killultagh Vic ran a cracker at Ascot last time and the form has been advertised since. The trip will suit and he will love the ground. He must have a real good chance.

"Outlander was a little disappointing at Limerick so we are bringing him back in trip here to see if he can regain winning form.

"Net D'Ecosse is a nice type that we bought to go chasing but we will keep him to hurdles this season. We will have a fair idea how good he is after today."
