Aintree 2025 Day 1

Lovely start, can only go downhill from here :highly_amused:

Impaires jumping was spot on today. Could call him the winner a long way out.

Very good race though to start the week, Gidleigh ran well from the front and Jango ran on as he did at Cheltenham. PT with some excellent riding to keep him hemmed in jumping the cross fence after Jango made a mistake previously. He could end up a King George horse imo.

Thought Impaire Passe would win by further based on the confidence Townend had coming round the bend and 2 out. However, nobody was closing in the final strides.

Think most of us were on her at decent prices.
Fuck cheltenham :boxing:

Murcia 12s with Paul up a touch overpriced compared to Puturhandstogether - 13lb swing for the Fred winter run

Track and ground should suit Murcia well

Was a toss up between her and Nimble as cover for my Conti bet.

Murcia the merciless

Gwann lass, positive ride, flat track, good ground

The odds difference between her and Puturhands was just too much

1 - 2 in the Juve with Conti running a cracker with 3 legs.

Cracking shout Jim.
I was late to the party myself.
Nice one

Bloody mullins been giving them horses that magic feed :welcoming:

Patrick Mullins, what a jockey! :highly_amused: Great day for antepost horses coming back to haunt.

Plenty of ante post prices about for aintree meeting.
impaire was available at 11/2
murcia @ 12s
Gaelic @ 7s (maybe more, not sure on him)

All went off at shorter sps with much less time and options for horses.

Maybe you're playing the wrong ante post

No matter what way I looked at that race I just couldn't see Gaelic Warrior winning especially with Patrick on board. But fair play he gave him a peach of a ride and ended up an easy winner

As much as I had Gaelic as a saver I'm gutted.

Once IEP & Murcia done the job I cashed a Trixie with GW in, all because Patrick was on board, dare I say influenced by too much noise about his ability.

Still made extremely good profit on the bet, but somewhat silly of me.

I placed the bet pre jockey bookings.

It seems people are perfectly happy to trust Willie's judgement with horses but not his judgement on a horseman.
I've posted before how I think the criticism of Patrick is unduly deserved.
I wouldn't ever consider a horses chances diminished because he was riding, especially over fences.

Say it quietly as I'm one of his biggest haters but I'd strongly fancy gaelic warrior if he were to run in the bowl.

It looks a pretty modest renewal with no 170 horses entered.

One of his best performances, if not his best, came on his one run over 3 miles at punchestown on decent ground.

Perfectly possible they've been running him over the wrong trip most of his career.

Win this then aim for the king george.

Not convinced by grey dawning or spillanes tower.

Think he has a much better chance of winning this than taking on jonbon. Who runs to 170 like clockwork away from Cheltenham.

Call me the gaelic whisperer

He always wins the few times i back him

Apart from the boodles

He's 3 from 4 for me somehow.

Just a shame about the rule 4

Yeah, was a bad move on my part. Will do my best to ignore the noise in future.

Nico should be getting sacked. Absolutely fucking embarrassing

Lossiemouth clipped the hurdle in front of Constitution Hill similar to what brighterdaysahead did in the champion
he's got a bit silly in his hurdling
