2026 Ultima Handicap

Quebecois
Ultima Handicap Chase, 16-1
TrustATrader Plate Handicap Chase, 25-1
Jack Richards Novices’ Handicap Chase, 20-1

It would be nice to have a runner for Max McNeill in the race he sponsors, and I’ve always thought the Ultima trip would suit him. The race he all but won on Trials day always turns out to be good, and he caught me a bit by surprise there. I’ve always thought he’s handy and for some reason he’s better going left-handed. He needs one more run over fences to qualify and we intend to go to Newbury on Tuesday. He’ll have entries in the Plate, and in the novice race in case we don’t get qualified for any reason.

Which horse? Of course, the yard of Lucinda, it was indeed Corach Rambler (2022).

Myretown looking to be number 2 in the last 5 years to win with a letter as previous run (P).

Yeah, was just saying for those that may be thinking of backing any of them for Ultima.
Just in case not aware that they may run at Kempton instead of Cheltenham.

Yeah, I literally wrote (P) in my post. The point was that horses don't win the Ultima with a letter as a previous run, Myretown would be the letter P, BUT the last yard to win it with a letter from their last run was from the same yard as Myretown.

I think I've backed Myretown every race this year so I'm out for the Ultima (He is a cert now)

….Quebecois off 139 tomorrow over 2m. They’ve made no secret all season that this is the target, interesting to see the approach from Cobden.
 
Only way I'd be backing myretown in this again is if they change the jockey back to wadge, it's clear to me fox can't get the same tune out of the horse

He fails on the RPR stat of best RPR being in a race at 3m+ though which has held for 25 years.

Jagwar hasn't ran over the distance, doubt The Wallpark will run, JDR won't run, Wendigo won't run, Koktail Divin won't run, Backmersackme has a RPR 1 pound lower over 3m+ compared to his best, King of Answers qualifies, Myretown qualifies, Handstands doesn't, Quebecois doesn't, Panic Attack does but won't come here, Now is the Hour does, Jordans Cross doesn't, Wingmen doesn't, Ballysax Hank does. Not looked further as best odds then 20/1+.

If you're being pedantic, KOA doesn't. Race at Kelso was only 2m 71/2.

Totally agree. They have to try a change of jockey at the Festival. His jumping was good under Wadge in the Ultima last year, and has been poor under Fox before and since that race.
