2026 Stayers Hurdle

Want blown away by that at all as a backer for March. Atleast he stayed on late….albeit very very slowly

The only thing you'd have to hope is that he's half baked, because being beat by Colonel Mustard is filthy stuff! As much as love the admirability of CM he can barely get his head in front!

😂😂 that’s two bits of Cheltenham form he has ruined (sixandahalf also). Fair play to the old boy

Don't know about a boat, he just seems like one of those horses that is trip-less. Probably decent at most distances, just not grade 1 at any of them. Could be an expensive type to follow.

I'll have you know that beating that boat by half a length entitles you to be fave for the champion hurdle apparently 😂
Faugheen beat a NH chase winner in his Ballymore win, didn't do him any harm when it came to the CH.

Not a bad race to get beat in for a stayers hurdler.
16-1 is a worthy bet IMO

…..just looking at Saxon’s ‘planner’ & I think Bob Olinger finished 2nd in that same Navan race last year.

A lot of Gordons seem to be coming on massively for a run this season. I’m not a backer at the minute but wouldn’t be overly concerned at this stage if I was.

Colonel Mustard seems to consistently run mid-high 140s and TYC has given him 6lb on ground that looked desperate. Could have been worse and the stayers market isn’t exactly stacked with quality.

It’ll be interesting to see how he goes at 3 miles next time out.

Has there been news on Honesty Policy’s plans? Trimmed in across the board in the last 24hrs.

Could just be a reaction to The Yellow Clays run & Final Demands showing. He’d be top of my pecking order if he’s staying hurdling.

Yip, he falls into the 'happy to see him run first' category now. Backed Teahupoo at 6/1 and The Yellow Clay at 14/1 but no way on Ballyburn at that price. I know it sounds daft, but just watched the stable tour, and even in his box he looked unhappy, pressed up against the wall and not interested in anything.

Potters Charm at a big price if he stays over hurdles.

Still on the first 2 from last year. Yet to see anything else step up . I quite like the 5/1 teahupoo with hills

Can't see Jingko Blue priced up for this.
Henderson said in stable tour about him having minor back surgery and resuming his chasing career,
But he has 2 hurdle entries this weekend, including the ascot hurdle.
same race lucky place won last year, who went on to go off 2nd fav in the stayers.
He's still only 6 and looks unexposed really, a bomb out in the ballymore hurdle when hendersons horses were giving up, and a fall when odds on to win the reynoldstown.
quite possibly improvement to come. should stay well enough and is bred lovely.
I would want at least 66-1 though, and might be better to back him if declared at the weekend I suppose.

He is entered in the Hattons Grace. Gordon previously left it in the air as to whether he'd go chasing or hurdling, but I think people have assumed the latter given the entry

HONESTY POLICY

He’s going to stay over hurdles and there’s a race at Newbury next week for him. If the ground wasn’t very soft you could maybe see him going for that – it’s a Grade 2 - and then head down for the three-mile Grade 1 at Leopardstown, but he’ll be ground dependent. He doesn’t need it good but I just don’t want to bottom him out on heavy ground this time of year.

TEAHUPOO

I was toying with going for the Long Walk Hurdle (at Ascot) if the ground wasn’t going to be that soft in Fairyhouse it’s looking like it’s going to be good to soft with all the rain we’ve had so I think we’ll probably head back to the Hatton’s Grace all being well.

THE YELLOW CLAY

He never travelled on the ground and Jack (Kennedy) said it was very hard work in Navan. He had a hard race and you’ll probably not see him now until the three-miler at Leopardstown over Christmas. He didn’t disgrace himself the other day, he was second, but it was a hard race.

Honesty Policy a 🌊 of blue on oddschecker. I was very strong on Jasmin before the setback, he gave him a right good rattle at Punchestown despite most of Gordon’s yard running like drains.

He’s improving at a serious rate of knots. I’d have it between him & The Yellow Clay with a preference for the former.

Basically doubled down by not backing The New Lion for the Champion Hurdle, instead backing him for this race @ 40/1.

It's either going to be a terrible level of judgement or look really good, once the weekend plays out.

I'll keep an eye on decs, as removal of one or both of Anzadam or Constitution Hill in the FF then I might have to consider cashing out but I'm hoping the pair show up to lay it down to TNL.

Anyone have views on Kabral du Mathan making up into a Stayers candidate. The division does not look overly strong.
