2026 Stayers Hurdle

I'm more of the opinion he's an honest straightforward horse and had nothing more to give. I don't think Hendo had the Stayers as his main target so Impose has already been at his best in winning what he already has, but that is not to say he's still improving. What is fact is that it was Honesty's first run of the season and Gordon will have him fitter for the Stayers as it will always have been the plan after a hurdling campaign was decided.
And you may be completely right, but can’t decide which side of the fence to sit on, so covered both. HP defo more unexposed, and IT had a few runs in quick succession. Just hope JP wins the race 😂😂

This'll upset a few but Kabral is this years Lucky Place, and the year befores Crambo.

It was a fairly poor race today and what I believe to be his correct trip. Can understand why they would go to Aintree with him rather than the Stayers too.

He's got at least a stone to find, IMO, possibly more, even if the official figures say otherwise.

The British are miles behind in the Stayers division, IMO. Even the average Irish horses beat the British lot in last seasons Stayers Hurdle!
i certainly wouldn’t be comparing him to those pair. If he’d be running off level weights so far, he’d be unbeaten with form figures of 11111111. Hes still improved immensely for the step up in trip and I think he’s a seriously high class horse. Visually he doesn’t race like a stayers hurdle horse for Cheltenham atm, that would be my concern. I’d say he’d fly round a flat track like aintree or kempton over 3 no bother. Personally I think he’ll skip Cheltenham this year

I’ve still not moved with the past years 1-2.
😂Love a man who sticks to his guns. You've been saying that for 10 months now. Fair play. Probably right as well if we get the same conditions.

Did Skelton just say Kabral to Aintree with an entry at Cheltenham just in case ?

Dan just mentioned on ITV that Plan A for Kabral is Aintree but will have Cheltenham entries

…..not convinced Cheltenham will suit, maybe an eye on Trainers Championship.

Skelton was very clear Plan A for Kabral is the National Spirit at Fontwell and then Aintree. Stayers was mentioned for 2027 possibly. CashOut if you can would be my advice.

Glad he's taking the patient approach with KDM, hope the owners don't mind waiting a season, but its the right thing to do, only a 6yo he has plenty of milage left under the bonnet, as long as you don't push for too much too soon.
Of the eighteen first time winners this century seven were 6yos. Aiming Low is depressingly predictable. Hope he has a change of heart (and so does my wallet).😋

He's definitely thinking prize money and the rest is mostly bullshit. I'd be really annoyed if I'd backed for the stayers after his comments the other day after the race.
He's had eight runs over hurdles and been running under rules since the age of 3.
I've seen these patient types before. and more often than not they end up with regrets. He's not even going to go chasing FFS.

As if running in the stayers would ruin the horse anyway - fucking maddens me when trainers say that. If he needed a win in the stayers for some sort of bonus or the trainers title he'd be there like a shot. It just sounds better to come out with this type of shit when other reasons are more in play.

It looked obvious to many that he does not travel efficiently enough behind the bridle for a typical stayer and he should admit that that's the reason as well as being able to pick up another pot on route to Aintree.

I also disagree with Dan, about him not being a potential player over 2 miles, especially based on his runs in handicaps when under a different trainer.
He looked like a decent 2 miler running against stayers the other day.
And the 2 mile division has no depth.

Hopefully we do see him at Cheltenham as he's been one of the bright sparks over here this season.
Dan probably thinks he has plenty of darts for Cheltenham right now, but we'll see nearer the time.

Yeah it's an opportunity to pick up a cheap G2 and prize money. I can't see how he matures into a better stayer next year to be honest - I just don't think he is one.

With how hard he pulls they are surely doing the right thing

He wont get 3 miles strongly until he learns to settle

If he was truly only worried about him settling, he could use some of his vast prize money and get a pace maker in there. He is just trying to justify 'doing a Nicholls'

Teahupoo nearly won his first Stayers Hurdle at 6 years old……didn’t seem to have any negative effect on him for future race performance

Plans change, always have and always will…..and many trainers put punters away with their rhetoric geared towards their particular narrative at the time……..we should be numb by now towards their interviews, but because on this Forum we are by in large ante post punters, then when a race target is mentioned our antennae are alerted as this is a key part of the battle to get value, particularly for the Festival

Remember Lea Du Sub “runs best when fresh” we were told when winning his first race of this seasons campaign…….he then runs two and half weeks later and gets beat 18 lengths by the winner and 9 lengths by the second 😳
