2026 Novice Hurdlers

….Spinningayarn cut to 25s AB with Hills, low as 16s elsewhere.

….not sure what that means for the highlighted 40-1 Coral Cup
Probably run to form. DDM not as good as what people thought, or at least hasn't come on for the run. There was 22lb difference on RPR's in favour of The Passing Wife so in theory the handicapper shouldn't do much to his mark of 136.

Blimey it doesn’t look good does it Eggs

Last 12 years, winners of NL/GC race;
- 5 have run in the Albert - no wins, 4 placed
- 5 have run in the Turners - no wins, 2 placed
- 1 ran in the mares novice hurdle and won it!

Maybe us Albert backers of Doctor S want him to run well at the weekend but not win in order to have a chance at the festival?

….compare that to Tattersalls over 2m, winners galore if you like trends.

Spinningyarn (2-1) landed the Matchbook Betting Exchange Rated Novice Hurdle for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy, who said: “He looks to be going in the right direction. It was fairly straightforward today – he jumped and has done it well.

“He’ll be suited by going further and also getting a lead would probably help him as well. Hopefully there is more to come from him.”

Could easily take a positive view in that 4 of the 5 winners at Leop went on to place at Cheltenham in the Bartlett.

Commander of Fleet 2nd beaten 2L by future gold cup winner Minella Indo
Latest Exhibition 2nd beaten a neck by Monkfish who looked gold cup class prior to injury
Minella Cocooner 2nd beaten 5L by The Nice Guy who sadly didn’t race after his novice season
Dancing City 3rd beaten 7L, The Jukebox Man one of the horses ahead of him

All winners have shown strong form if heading to the Bartlett afterwards and it just seems like a bit of variance that a double up hasn’t happened yet. If Doctor Steinburg wins on Saturday i’d see it as a positive rather than a negative.

Yeah winning a race cant be a negative

Thats just stats being stats

Unless the winner of that race runs in the turners. Theyll just be too slow.

But that race will definitely produce bartlett winners.

Soft heavy in places at thurles currently, El Cairos never ran before with those conditions and has been pulled out once before due to unsuitable going (soft).

Could switch to DRF, which isn't much better or plan C?

Is there an argument to be made that LDE actually has the best form amongst the Mullins batallion?

Only on the basis the others haven't been given the chance yet, but I think he'll be plenty down the pecking order after that run over Christmas.

Highest on RPR's of the Mullins runners. However, got the same RPR for his win as for the 4th last time so arguably hasn't trained on or improved for the run. Be very disappointing though if none of the others were capable of better.
