2026 Novice Hurdlers

Aye, agree with the above being their current feeling. Which is why I thought Sortudo may end up in the Bartlett. If he does win tomorrow though then he'll most likely be aimed at the Turners you'd imagine.

There's also a good chance they're wrong.

….a few firms clipping The Reverend in for the Supreme ahead of his run today (365 into 20-1). 33-1 WTAF with PP, couple of non-runners in that race.

Hood on today. Apparently a bit free at home and not the greatest of jumpers. He did beat last year's 100/1 Triumph winner into 3rd on the flat so his form is hot !

How often do these ex flat horses make the grade in the Supreme novices hurdle ?

Probably have to go back to 2007 Ebaziyan for the last

The way the ground is set up for the first day at the festival will almost certainly be against them as most would struggle to stay 2 miles plus on good ground never mind good to soft at best

High Definition springs to mind

Also,a lot of them struggle to jump as they are not bred for it and haven’t been schooled for it for long enough as going hurdling is usually an afterthought

A flat horse that can stay 1m6 can 100% stay 2m jumping.

But I agree they're rarely the same level over hurdles to be honest. I'd think if TR was as good as pre-season hopes were, he wouldn't be running here today
 
….looks like 25-1 available for The Reverend (Turn and Sup) after that win.
 
Always in two minds over those flat types like the reverend.

One one hand, the form is worth nothing, although mullins lot do seem to be improving for a run.

On the other hand he's rated 102 on the flat. If he can transfer that sort of form to hurdles, youd think he could reach a rating in the 140s over hurdles if equally effective. It was a poor race, but everything about it indicated he enjoys jump racing. I thought he jumped well, and also settled fine for a flat horse having his first go over hurdles. Which gives him a good chance of reaching that sort of 140-150 rating a flat horse like him is often capable of if taking to jumps. There's obviously no ceiling for flat horses over jumps, it's just a general idea that if they're equally as good there can be about a 40-45lbs gap in ratings.
 
The Reverend kind you'd say was a good start if you'd backed and wouldn't be in any rush to back if you hadn't already imo...

I’m fairly sure Mystical Power was declared for the Lawlors a couple of years ago, but when was rescheduled and ended up in the Moscow Flyer, it’ll be interesting to see if Saint baco gets an entry next week in the Moscow flyer

jumped right at every hurdle, dont think he will like left handed tracks much
