2026 Novice Hurdlers

….100-1 WTAF with Hills.
WILSTAR

“I say if you asked me what is the best novice hurdler we have, he is potentially the best. He was a very weak four-year-old that has just improved.

“He is a very good jumper and has clearly done well for another summer on his back. All he will do is improve through the season like he did last season. I love him.

“The race he won at Perth was a good race as the seventh, eight and fourth finished first, second and third up there the other week.

“The form has worked out well and there was a lot of talk going into that bumper.”

Caballero Cliff has the best form in the book in Bumpers by some way. Very good 4th at the Festival behind Bambino at a huge price. Clearly he'd be a lot shorter in the market today if he were trained by one of the 'known' trainers. He's definitely been underestimated in the market today.

Stephens said: “Everything is all good with Caballero Cliff and we are very happy with him.

“It was a very good run he put up in the Champion Bumper, especially with him being a four-year-old as well.

“We have some nice big targets, but we will start him off low and go from there really.

“Before he was turned away for the summer he went to Henrietta Knight’s for a week and did a lot of schooling and he was very good. We are very excited about the season.

“As long as the ground is on the soft side we will try and start him at some point later this month.

"We will start him off over two miles I would imagine, but he could be one that gets a bit further in time we will just have to see how we go.”

….Jamie Snowden;

LA CONQUIERE

“She came over to us mid-season after finishing second on her debut at Thurles. We were looking for some soft ground, but nothing happened. As she went well at home we threw her in the deep end in the Grade Two bumper at Aintree and she ran a belter to be second.

“She looked really good at Uttoxeter in what was a steadily run affair. The leader (Dream Shadow), who was placed in a couple of Listed bumpers, had first run on her, but she picked her up well. Showing plenty of speed she looked very smart.

“The plan would be to go for the Listed race at Newbury at the end of the month. You would like to hope we can work back from the mares novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham with her.”

Even accounting for everything

That was horrific

Absolutely terrible.

Looked a decent enough maiden, but weakened really quickly.

Left plenty short of fitness I can only guess at!

Yeah that's it, was plenty of depth in the race

Indeevar Bleu MKII that lad I reckon

On a positive note, good to see Hobbs have some alright looking ammo again coming through

I wonder with Hobbs, is he striking early in the season, a bit like the Twiston-Davies' do, or will he be able to maintain into Spring. Starting out early enough, that's for sure.

For those that have backed Starzand, The Challow looks to be his first big target. Hobbs won that race with Thyme Hill who then went on to finish a close 4th in the Albert.

…..Alan King clearly likes this one, 33-1 Turners;

BARON NOIR

He is one of the nicest bumper horses that we have had come through for a while. He won well at Punchestown and looks a good horse. He won at Plumpton first time out then finished third in the Listed race at Newbury and we decided there and then to put him away for Punchestown for the winners-of-one race. It looked a hotter race than the championship bumper there, but he got away with it. The second was probably a little bit unlucky, but it was still a very good performance.

He is a big fine horse and will now go straight over hurdles. He will stay, but we might start him over a stiff two miles. He probably is a two-and-a-half mile horse. I think he is one of the most exciting young horses I’ve had for a few years so let’s hope we are lucky with him.
HIs back form is certainly working out really well with lines to several Novice Hurdle winners already this season.

….most firms are 33-1 but PP remain 66-1, not seen a Hobbs stable tour as yet.

….Patrick Mullins;

Dark horse catching the eye at home

We have got a relatively new horse called Leader D’allier, who has won five bumpers in France, the last one being a Grade 2 at Saint-Cloud.

He’s obviously been quite busy and you might not see him this side of Christmas but he’s a horse that’s come over and settled in really well. He’s a very tally, athletic horse who would catch your eye on the gallop. He’s a four-year-old so he could be one to appear at Leopardstown in December.

14/1 TWAR with Hills.

Turners or Supreme you reckon?
Far too early to be faffing about playing Mullins bingo

Played both on the machine at big prices

Noticed twice now been called an athletic type

See how he looks come Christmas then can top up one side or other

Or throw slips in the bin, we'll see.
