2026 Novice Chasers

Kopek be more than happy to go from the front if there's no pace I reckon.

As long as he can settle he'll be fine to sit in behind the leader and out pace Lulamba also.

He was super Carnage. No need to play it down. Yes he wasn't foot perfect but he strolled home against experienced rivals. He is a serious animal!
That’s my honest assessment mate
Maybe if he could win me a load of money come March I might play it up a tad!! 😆

Well I was impressed with that. Not fluent but then it would be tricky on that ground whilst the pace looked solid. Considering the manner of victory, what would he be for a Champion Chase this year? 3rd or 4th fav depending on how well you rate L'Eau Du Sud? Kopek wowed me with his chase debut but I think the 4 early fences will keep things in check and if he jumps round he wins.

Lulamba has a serious engine. If he’s on the tails of kopek and kargese turning the bend, he’ll be dangerous. I am not convinced he will be able to hang onto them early though. Wouldn’t be wading in at 5/4.

I’m struggling to see Lulamba being able to lay up with the pace Kargese will set in the Arkle, Kopek will be tucked in behind her. The both jump & travel markedly quicker than him.

He’ll be distanced coming down the hill but will probably be staying on best up it. Kopek sees out his races very strongly so I’d be surprised to see him reeled in easily.

Just depends on who’s jumping holds up under pressure on the day!

My only worry with Lulamba, is that he takes a while to warm up and can look a bit sluggish early on.

Ruby on RTC talks about 4 fences in quick succession early on in Arkle/CC - which has always been Jonbons undoing…

IF there is early pace (which there might not be), he could be up against it early on.
I’m sure Kargese will be off like a scalded cat. Pinging away .

His time at Sandown was fast. Be Aware went hard and jumped fence to fence but couldn't get him out of his comfort zone.

Be Aware wouldn’t lay upsides with Kopek in a horse box.
The time of the race doesn't lie. Be Aware is a handicapper that's why he couldn't maintain the fast pace he set but he jumped very well and it was a proper test for a novice on second run. I think you're over egging it saying he can't lay up. Lulamba will lose a few lengths here and there but who's to say Final Demand won't make a bigger mistake.

Being out of his comfort zone will make it more likely that Lulamba will miss fence or two, that was evident in the first mile of today’s race.

She’d only have to go the same speed she went in the quagmire at Leopardstown to get stone hands busy in the saddle.
He’s normally busy anyway or seems to
Be.
End of the day, any horse wants to beat Lulamba imo needs to have a fair lead two out.
If any horse is good enough to do that will be a deserved winner if he or she can keep it up to the line.
Personally I’m really not sure, but I’m really looking forward to the race and finding out.
