2026 Novice Chasers

Interesting how poorly FD responded to when Townend asked him up, he never went on a long stride once. Didn’t impact the result but I thought it was poor from PT to continue to ask him to find a long one.

I'd say it's a open race now. Albeit I haven't looked at the race in a year haha. Had FD double with Kopek and single on Kitz very early on.
 
Been ferreting around the markets then thought fuck it.
Proper open race now - like the gold cup.
Loads could run well on the day.
I'm going to be patient before I add to my four. western fold, Wendigo, ballygunner and oscars brother.
Could be a decent sized field on the day also.

Asked him twice and both times the horse didn't respond, I'd say was it struggling to get out of the ground, but always thought he wanted a bit of dig to be at his best.
I thought in the turners he didn't look up for a fight, similar feel today with how it panned out, dunno 3 miles round cheltenham he might turn that form around, but I wouldn't be laying much out on him as there's some nice chasers around so it won't be a easy race to bounce back in.

Don't forget Lecky Watson won the race last year, and at a price. I wouldn't give up on any of those three although was impressed with the winner, who didn't seem to have a hard race

Kaid dauthie would definitely prefer the race was on the other course (i have never understood why the banc isnt on gold cup day personally)

He travelled a lot better than i was expecting today though tbf
 
Surely Jack Kennedy will want to ride both Western Fold and Romeo after that so I’d say that nails Romeo for the Arkle.

Provided he runs well enough tomorrow I suppose.

Travelled well, jumped well and stays well
Not much more you need really
Might be a better one on the day of course, but he has all a horse needs for the BANC.

He won’t decide but I’d imagine he’ll be similar to Paul T wouldn’t he?

Why wouldn’t you, you’ve got 2 great rides in both races, wouldn’t want to give one of them up.

Edit - just to add I don’t think Romeo wins an Arkle but if he wins tomorrow or beaten a head I think that’s where he’ll go.

After their debuts, I was adamant that FD and Jimmy were the only 2 I wanted in the BANC. Now that's fucking changed! Both have got worse after each run, it's absolutely incredible. FD would have won today's race if he was in the same form as on his debut. Just don't know what to make of it as he was supposed to be in the best form he had been in all season. I'm hoping it was just a bad day but today was really poor.

If Romeo is beat tomorrow then they’ll have to go up in trip surely, even with the jockey considerations.

Western fold is a nice horse but they aren’t gonna run Romeo in the arkle when he’d be a 12/1 shot at best (if beaten tomorrow obviously) when they could up him in trip and have the fav for the RSA
 
Would be awful race planning to go from an Irish Arkle straight to a BANC
