2026 Novice Chasers

People overreact constantly to wobbles. He's in no worse a position than he was when he first got injured - the fact he's recovered and back in full work is encouraging. These markets are easy to manipulate and people will be taking advantage of the news to reback, lay off etc. If you're on at nice odds, switch off from the noise and wait and see if he shows up at the DRF haha

Patrick (Mullins) has said he rode Kopek Des Bordes at the Curragh yesterday and he gave him a very good feeling. He’s doing everything that is asked of him and should make the Dublin Racing Festival.

“Looking at pictures of him from today, he looks superb and is back now in full training and Patrick was very happy with him.”

Kopek Des Bordes has developed quite a following during his short career to date, with his enthusiastic owner excited his legion of fans will get to see him in action on January 31.

McCarthy added: “You have no idea the amount of pressure we feel to have so many people in love with our horse. There will be people coming over especially to see him and there will be a big crowd over from England for the weekend.”

Yep if already on not much point in stressing too much imo
If not on, just a case of keeping an eye on developments and seeing if prices suit.

For me it’s looking like I probably won’t have either of the two favs.well not yet anyway, maybe nearer the time it’s possible I guess.

Thought he had an operation to remove a floating chip on his knee/shin, not an injury.
Correct. Just a tad worrying that they said he was only about 10 days behind making Christmas initially, then there were wobbles about making the DRF. Hopefully all cleared up now 🤷‍♀️

Anyone got the Enabler on their radar for the NHC?

Could well be a target for him with the entry over 3m at Naas. Is that still a thing for the NHC where they have to finish top 4 over at least 2m7f to qualify?

He'd be interesting for sure.

I'm kind of looking at another Giggy one too. Shanbally Kid. Still a novice apparently and clear best form shown on first try at an extreme trip. Course form with 3rd place in coral cup. But god knows what mark he'll be given as he got mullered with a big hike last year.

Yes, still a novice as win is classed as this season. Was 5lb out of handicap last year so only got a 4lb rise. Could well have been plotted up for a tilt at the NH Chase.

SHANBALLY KID ran in the Jack Richards off 134 last year by the looks of things.

Should be under the 145 cut off for the NHC.

Soldier in milan surely worth a go in the next at gowran. Clinically abnormal when pulled up at xmas. Easy winner of a point on heavy ground. Beat King rasko grey in a bumper. Of the ones trying today, he's the only one with potential to be top drawer still I'd say. Has a browns advisory entry too, which wouldn't make much sense if he wasn't going to be trying in his races between now and the festival.

Unlucky sir

Yeah not sure if the horse was just a bit slow to respond given his inexperience, or whether the jockey was slow to get after him or was on wrong part of the track. Went from first to fourth within a few strides after the last only to come back at them again.

This Fat Jockyer is hoping the NHC winner is running in the Tyestes tomorrow
Would of gone very close to winning last year bar a fall
Would like to see a nice run tomorrow without troubling the judge and the stable in better form
Had a little saver on now is the hour when Gavin won the first 2 races

I suppose they would of rather won a Tyestes than a NHC

Great to see this stable back to form

Darragh O’Keeffe was fairly giddy about The Big Westerner on RTC today.

No wonder she got a good clipping across the board again today.

Selfishly hoping they bypass the DRF despite the ground likely being in her favour. She’ll serve it up best to the boys coming in fresh.
