2026 Novice Chasers

Would need it to be a poor renewal without the big guns I'd imagine, for them to even consider it.
But an entry is a start.
Very much caught between the distances aren't they, I think he'd be run of his feet in an Arkle similar to a Supreme by something like Kopek wouldn't live with that pace or jumping speed.
Proper big chaser but you see even with Willie he hates going to 3 miles with a proper good novice unless an out and out stayer as long term they feel its harmful to a horse why the middle race worked so well over the years before being binned.
Owners who won't allow Gordon skip the fest. too (thankfully) , so interesting which way they go. Would have a better chance in the 3 than 2 imo but can see why they might not want to extend yet

They are just probably hoping for a soft start to the festival and have a go in the arkle.
I'd have thought that's there best case scenario myself if they insist in running at Cheltenham.
For myself I'd say the BANC is the least likely especially if he goes straight to the festival.
But they may as well see how each race looks, like anyone with any sense would.

Yep, have the entries see how the races are shaping up and how the goings looking, all makes sense.
If you look at his form it does look to
Me that it’s more akin to a 2and a half miler stepping up then the same stepping down. I’d say his best looking performance was the Drinmore which is the furthest he’s been and where he beat Gold Dancer with ease by same sort of distance as Final Demand did.
To my eyes he just looks more comfortable the further he goes, so far, and another 3 or so furlongs looks no issue to him.

He’d fit in both novice races and run well. There’ll be a big hole in the arkle if he goes BANC. However, as with the past 2 years festival performances, I expect he will place again.
I’m increasingly being drawn in by kargese

Agree. He'll turn up at the Fez in whichever race but I can't see him winning unless we get a Golden Ace scenario. This is a rare occasion where I'd say he'd be better off skipping the Fez as better chances in the other Spring Festivals. Ryanair in 2027 should be his Cheltenham target.

Is it cos Romeo is a novice that some are saying he should not step up to 3m?
Just interested cos loads on here saying Jango should step up after doing the same, winning well over 2 and a half.

Also another question I could ask is why is it ok to think Final Demand can step and win the BANC but apparently it’s not ok to think Romeo can.
The form book suggests to me that both could take the step up fine and be competitive. And that there ain’t much between them.
Visual impression maybe?

We all know that Romeo Coolio would be running at the intermediate trip if the race still existed. The doubts about him stepping up to 3 miles probably stem from him running in the Supreme last year compared with the opposition who mostly demonstrated stamina as hurdlers. He's bred for it alright but he just doesn't strike me as the type to grind it out up the hill at this stage of his development unless the top 2 or 3 drop out before March.

Yep bred for it and finishing his races well over 3-4 furlongs less
Two good reasons to step up imo.

Big Westerner leaning towards BANC

It's all hype with final demand at the moment, so if you fancy something I wouldn't be afraid to bet against him. He's rightful fave, but I thought his limerick run was just good, and not an unbeatable standard by any means. He hasn't been involved in an actual horse race yet over fences, so it's hard to judge, he may actually be better in a proper race, or could just as easily be found out. His actual form is nothing worth talking about so far.

You can't say it's all hype and then he's the rightful fav....... doesn't make sense

Why is he such a short price? Hurdles form I guess? But not sure that justifies the odds .
But it’s great for us imo, well I like it anyway.
