We set up these threads around this time last year and it seemed to work well from a housekeeping perspective.

Let the action begin.

Bit wild but does anybody have any kind of opinion on Willies novice hurdle 'also rans' from last year? Thinking more specifically Arkle related. Karniquet, Karbau, Kappa Jy Pyke and Funiculi Funicula? Have to admit, I quite like Karniquet, think he has something about him, don't think he is a betting proposition (I don't think any of them are right now) but he looked a good chaser in the making. Also like Funiculi Funicula but see him as more of a stayer, the Jack Richards would look ideal for him if he took to fences and was highly tried In defeats as the season progresses.

Jamie Snowden has high hopes for Wendigo over fences this season, as he prepares for a potential chasing debut in the Tom Malone Bloodstock Novices’ Chase at Chepstow on Sunday, the third and final day of the Dragonbet Welsh Racing Festival.

The six-year-old won a valuable introductory hurdle at Ludlow, before finding only current Champion Hurdle favourite The New Lion too good in the Grade One Challow Hurdle at Newbury.

A further win at Wetherby followed, after which he was badly hampered before staying on well to finish fifth when last seen in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival.

Attention now turns to the larger obstacles and Snowden said: “He’s entered (at Chepstow), but obviously it all depends what the weather does and what the ground does. He’s a very exciting horse to look forward to over fences this season.

“He ran very well in the Albert Bartlett. He was pretty unlucky in running I suppose, almost got brought down at the second-last so did very well in the circumstances. It’s a shame he didn’t have a clear run.

“He had a great season and won a couple of novice hurdles, second in the Grade One at Newbury and he always been a horse that we thought would be a properly nice chaser, so there’s an exciting season ahead, hopefully.

“It depends how he progresses, but you’d like to hope he’d turn out to be a graded three-mile novice chaser.”

Have i missed something about Brighterdaysahead as shes gone for a walk in Bet 365's betting out from 10s to 16s?

….she’s mentioned in the Stable Tour thread via an Elliott RP article today.

'As for Lulamba, a decision on whether he continues over hurdles or switches to fences has yet to be made, though last season's Punchestown winner has an entry in the Grade 1 Prix Renaud du Vivier over hurdles at Auteuil on November 16.'

More likely to stick to Hurdles??????

Hope so, I am all in on Kopek :LOL: for a win only purpose. Even if Lulamba goes over fences, he wouldn't be for me anyway, not over KDB. Irancy was pretty weak the other day, anybody know why? He is the only one I haven't covered (yet?), KDB, Kawa and Salvator all already in the book. Can leave the Arkle alone until later then with a potential one along the way on Be Aware just for a mad one

Kargese interest you ?

Do you think she will go chasing?

She is good, very good. I think she has proved that 2 miles is her discipline. She would be of interest even without the allowance. I hadn't considered her really for chasing and in the mares hurdle, she would probably pull her way out of contention. She would come right into contention if confirmed as chasing. She isn't priced up on any of my 3 local bookies.

….Russell re Derryhassen Paddy;

He was one of the highlights of last season and did nothing wrong. Tracks like Uttoxeter and Windsor were probably too tight for him, despite winning there. Though he excelled himself at Cheltenham when finishing third in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle. If he takes to fences the way we hope, he could be anything. We haven’t schooled him yet, but he will go novice chasing this season.

Yes I do as the Mares Hurdle over 2 1/2 will be beyond her and she'll be too high for the County and not good enough for the Churdle. Easy decision to split her and JDG .

….Mullins re Salvator Mundi;

‘He’s a very strong-going horse. The Donnellys have State Man and Anzadam already, but I think this fella could be another one of Champion Hurdle quality if he was asked to do that. However, looking at how keen he is in his races, we’re going to go over fences with him and give him the chance to be an Arkle horse. He has huge ability, a lot more than he has shown on the track so far. If he settles better over fences, he’ll hopefully show on the track what he has shown us at home.‘

….Nicholls re Captain Teague;

‘Most unfortunately, he finished lame after he finished fourth to The Jukebox Man in a very competitive Grade 2 at Newbury. He is fine now but I wanted to give him a full 12 months off, and I checked with the BHA that he didn’t lose his novice chase status for his walkover at Exeter. If all remains well with him, he’ll be a major asset in our staying novice chase division.’

Regent's Stroll:

"He came good at Aintree in April when we fitted him with a hood and the better ground suited him well. He has done very well during the summer and is in great form at home. We have always thought the world of him and anything he achieved over hurdles we thought was a bonus. He will go novice chasing this year and eventually he will be a three-miler."

Still 50/1 for the BANC.

Western folds out again tomorrow 2m 7f, only quoted for the gold cup and the national but i believe he's a novice chaser for the season, already 157 OR....Gordon mentioned 'Drinmore maybe but he's one for the spring festivals' could he be one for the browns going under the radar as i guess most quotes have him as an open chaser.

he’s only a novice til the drinmore remember I am maximus won it after winning the Irish national

Yeah, looks like still a novice to me with first chase win on the 8th May. Type who would of been a prime candidate for the NH Chase in its older format. Strange why no one has him priced up. Getting some great chasing experience though after the Galway Plate and then tomorrow against Heart Wood and Croke Park.
