2026 Champion Hurdle

Re Poniros - terrible stat for 5YOs in the Champion Hurdle to overcome, but in a weak year, who knows? Could do an Espoir D'Allen.

Hell of a lot more hurdle experience that one...

Poniros may join The New Lion and Sir Gino on Trials Day

Alexei...

Tizzard said: “He is going to go to the Kingwell and I’ve only put him in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury to cover all options really. He has got a Champion Hurdle entry and he will have a County Hurdle entry. He has earnt all the options.

“He will go to the Kingwell and we will almost certainly run him in a Champion Hurdle.

"His form was franked at Windsor on Friday by Hot Fuss and Wilful, who beat him at Ascot last time, with that pair finishing first and second. We went chasing Wilful and that probably cost us second at Ascot. He is in lovely nick at home.”

With Nemean Lion and Brentford having only just had a run.
It puts a lot of pressure on the other three to turn up.
If Mullins don't send Poniros it could be a match.
Then it'll be hard to duck

Already RacingTv are billing it as a match, don't like it when they do that, being dismissive of other horses in the race can bite you in the arse, just show them all a bit of respect during the build up and let the race unfold on the day.

Apologies,it's just something that always bugs me.

The Unibet looks another race lacking obvious pace. If I was Skelton then I would want something to put it up to Sir Gino and test his stamina, knowing his horse will stay the trip well. Instead it looks like it will probably be dictated by Sir Gino and he will kick on and win a sprint finish.

3 horse race. We'll learn nothing. Absolutely pathetic.

Being beaten 6 1/2L hardly being 'stuffed' when you've bolted in the middle part of the race

Harness that, he could come there swinging.

You know you'll be all over him like a rash when they mention the County😂Can see it now....

Ruby makes a great point on the podcast

He's a mark of 157 IRE

Say he goes 160 UK

How much, realistically does he have in hand off that mark?

3/4lbs MAYBE?

If thats the case, he's every right to run in the Champion Hdle.

Not if Willie thinks he can't win it though?? He'd be lucky to get placed wouldn't he with Sir G, TNL & Lossiemouth.

He'd have a much better chance of winning a County even off top weight and PT could ride him and Lossiemouth and Donnelly's would have two good chances of two Festival Trophies.

What's not to like ??

With class horses like him the Irish ratings don't usually differ much to UK do they?

Orrr he'd have 2 nice chances with Anz in a champion and a penalty kick in the Mares to play devils advocate

Sir G the one that won't be beaten, but he's got to make it there - 3rd time lucky hopefully.

I wouldn't be afraid of TNL over 2m around Cheltenham if TYC kept up with him last season

DRF will though, reveal plenty.

Mate of mine has correctly predicted a big named horse to miss the festival the last 3/4 years.....

Guess who he's gone for this year......
