2026 Champion Hurdle

El Fab? Poniros maybe
What about the other three?
Tongue in cheek Carnage but could well end up that way. El Fab better over further and now probably below CH standard...Aintree? Poniros not good enough..... Flat campaign? Ballyburn still heading to Stayers ? Anzadam falls short again......County hdle ?

I was hoping anzadam was going to be dropped a couple of lb for his last run but sadly he hasn't, that would be a near enough impossible weight to carry in the county off 157

Posted before....Mullins/PT won race with Champion Hurdle horse Arctic Fire off rating of 1lb more. It can be done.

Yes they did, I remember it, tough ask but maybe he can drop a couple of lb at the drf

Maybe but don't think he needs to. Look, Willie will probably give Patrick or Danny a ride on him to place perhaps and pick up a bit of decent prize money in the CH but imo he'd be a great ride for PT in the County and would win it if he were to take his chance. Not forgetting that Sir Gino is under the same ownership as Anzadam so maybe they'd prefer two potential Festival winners ?

Easily?
Which do you expect to be not turning up?
If Sir Gino beats the TNL on trials day and Anzadam wins at the DRF, it would be enough to do the job I'd say.

I don't see Constitution Hill turning up, or Lossiemouth if she's beaten.

It could easily be a small field Champion Hurdle looking at those entries.

I didn't realise it would be such a controversial take! 🤣

Easily might have been the wrong word to use, but you can surely see the angle.

Absolutely. There are so many different scenarios though that it's impossible to predict what the CH field will look like in March. Never known a year like it.

Don't really know why we bother though as we all know Golden Ace will double up.

Arctic Fire was a 160+ horse who had already come 2nd in a CH that got dropped a stone for its lay off to get to 157, very different to Anzadam
beating some trees and then being beaten fair and square and switched to a handicap

Well thanks for all that.
Anyway…..any ideas on jockey bookings for his 5 runners at the DRF?

PT on Lossiemouth. That's all I'm thinking about Carnage.
Hahaha, I thought you might say that
Fair enough.
I think it interesting though, particularly with Anzadam, for those that have not given up On him.
After last time I would think those would not want PM on again.
If Danny Mullins has a choice I’d be interested in his decision.

Yeah, they will probably try someone different on Anzadam. Cobden may be asked to ride one perhaps?

I’d say PT in Lossiemouth, Danny surely takes the ride on Anzadam being a better more experienced jockey than Patrick imo.

Then you’ll likely have Patrick, Brian hayes and Sean o’keefe on poniros el fab and Ballyburn.

JJ Slevin on El Fab ?
Hopefully a decent jockey on Poniros, interested to see how he’s trained on.

Re Poniros - terrible stat for 5YOs in the Champion Hurdle to overcome, but in a weak year, who knows? Could do an Espoir D'Allen.
