2026 Champion Hurdle

I don’t particularly blame posh boy although when con hill was a good horse I always thought he was the boss of the jockey
Now they’ve both become a combination of doubt and fear.
So the best chance for the horse would be to try a new partner IMO
Problem with that is it would dent the jockey’s pride if someone kicked him off.
If he had any bollocks he’d volunteer to remove himself

As we all know no decisions will be made when the mic is fired in hendos face after the race. It may happen right enough might be the best thing for him before he properly hurts himself.

Well knee jerk reaction ain’t the way to go
They do have big decisions now and I hope that owner and trainer have a really good chat and discuss all options.
And part of that should be discussing the possibility of a change of jockey.

I would say TNL would be more 'primed' than CH as TNL next race will likely be the International with Kempton at Xmas all but ruled out by Skelton, so this is their first big pot for him with time to rest after. CH is set to follow up at Kempton plus you would imagine Nico would be mindful about getting CH enjoying his racing again. After the way last season ended for him I would be surprised if he is throwing him into his hurdles and asking for the big one. Get him round, get him hurdling and get him competitive. I wouldn't rule Golden Ace out of the race either. With TNL having his first start at 2m over hurdles then there are still doubts about all three at the head of the betting. Golden Ace has to bounce back after scoping dirty last time but at least she comes here with a run, gets the mares allowance, the extra furlong plays to her strengths and she has yet to finish outside the first 2 in six starts at around 2m (More through lack of opposition admittedly last time). I think she is worth betting as a small win and to finish 2nd.

Defo has improvement in him….let’s hope it’s enough. I know golden ace was fit, but that form is way off

....and said is it fair on the horse to keep doing this. He looked devastated.
 
Must be a fair chance Sir Gino comes here now… Anzadam is no where near champion hurdle level awful head carriage

IT was on ITV racing Carnage. Watch it for yourself. I can't see him over a hurdle again.
 
Just watched it, he isn't going over a fence, the way it was said makes me think they've tried him over one and he jibbed at those as well.

I can see that happening if he gets back, but no way of knowing what’s happening this season at the moment with SG
The race needs something though
Right now it’s Lossies to lose imo, although she could fall and GA wins again!!

"What can you say, it's amazing that's the second time he's handed the race to someone else and they don't even win - State Man fell in the Champion Hurdle and The New Lion's now gone as well. I hope they're okay.

"I loved the way he went and jumped the first, we need to take a breath and be rational because it can have you in bits. It's really sad. Can we go on asking him to do it? It doesn't seem fair on anybody.

"We've been through it all, we've done everything, why has this habit crept in? It's become familiar and it's hard to go on watching it but we can't teach him anymore.

"We've listened to every theory but his work has been fantastic, his jumping is great and his work is superb. But he doesn't seem to be able to jump eight flights of hurdles. But the good thing is he's okay.

"We'll let the dust settle and see what happens, I couldn't tell you what we're going to do next right now. I don't know where to go next or what to do at the moment. It's beyond belief. The work and everything that's gone into getting him there, we really thought we were on top of everything."
 
Just watched it again, Nico goes 3..2..1 into the first and he jumps on 1 as he should, does the same again coming into the second, horse jumps before 1 hence not clearing the hurdle at all, he's got him on the right stride and is giving him the encouragement from above,horse just isn't listening and throwing himself at them.

When asked by Luke Harvey if going on the Flat was a potential option, Henderson said: “Almost certainly yes. I’m not saying the Ascot Gold Cup, but why not run him on the Flat?

“He’s a very, very, very good horse and the sad bit is that I’ve never seen him working as well as he has been these past two months.”
