2026 Champion Chase

He was very good to be fair. Not sure Marine would've beaten him

Majborough is a tough watch as a favourite isn't he

2nd fav SP in the Champion Chase gotta be the most profitable bet at the fest

I’ve been on all the CC faves at big odds compared to their starting sp and only had 1 win in the last 6 years. Love value losers

Loved that from IET, some horse!

He's so strong at the finish when racing off a fast pace. The key just might be keeping him to better ground and maybe next season have a go at the tingle creek as he clearly performs well at the track, then a break through most of the winter, freshen him up for Cheltenham and Aintree.

He might be the most underrated horse in training. Rated 10lb ahead of Leau Du Sud having already thumped him at Sandown and somehow LDS was priced up shorter only up until today.

IET did win well though the early breakneck pace set it up for him as he stays strong at the trip. Wonder how Jonbon would have fared?.

Yeah me too. At least I covered a few against him this year at ok prices. So strange they all get beat here. My logic is that we are due one, so will continue to try and get in early next year….glutton for punishment 😂😂

Entries through for punchestown champion chase. IL etait temps, marine and majborough

Anyone got a fancy ?

Maj will jump them silly again like he did last year even accounting for him going LH. Couldn't fancy him ever again at Cheltenham though .

He jumped badly left last year but got away with it being against inferior animals. Losing lengths at a lot of the fences isn't ideal against two champions

Hope Marine wins but not a betting race for me. Wouldn't be surprised if any of the three of them won.

….20-1 WTAF with PP (16-1 available just for CC).

Something that puts me off marine is that he was going to be wearing cheek pieces for Cheltenham, that can't be a positive

He's wearing them here as well. Don't mind if myself but the missing Cheltenham part I'm still a bit wary of. Even if it sounded a minor issue.

Think the market is probably about right. IET the most solid of the three.

I haven't got a strong view at all but looking towards next years Champion Chase how does Mullins separate them all ?
Ill Etait Temps has just hacked up
Kargese wins the Arkle
Kopek would have won the Arkle but for the false ground on landing
And then there's Majborough, likely to be stepped up in trip but the more obstacles you put in his way the more I struggle to see him being a factor.

Ante post horror story this one....

Do you think Il Etait Temps could be stepped up to Ryanair ? I took a punt on him at 33/1 a few weeks back simply because of the point you make about how does Mullins separate them. I'd say Majborough will step up on the assumption he gets 2m4 which is yet to be tested. Things seem to happen a bit too quickly for him over 2m on The Old Course and he may be more suited to 2m4 on the more galloping The New Course. Both Kargese and KDB look most likely to stay at 2m for 2027. Kargese never been further than 2m so surely they will not be tempted to go Mares with Kargese !!!!! ☹️☹️☹️

This is the issue when you have the talent Mullins has, it isn't about running in the race that suits the horse best it's about spreading the field that gives the trainer as many chances as possible at winning most races.
Either of the first three I mentioned could win it next year but he won't throw three darts at the race (certainly not those three anyway) when one or more could easily step into another race and give him a big chance elsewhere, as you say IET could well go Ryanair though I think much of that will depend on Fact to File's health (and ground of course !).
Right now it's an ante post minefield, best of luck anyone getting involved....
