2026 Champion Chase

Awesome display that from Maj, I thought he'd struggle to lay up with Solness, turned out the other way round, straight as an arrow too.
If he does that at cheltenham he'll be very tough to beat, seriously impressive stuff.
Yep, finally he’s put it all together and shown us what he can do when he does
That was a pleasure to watch
2m chasing at its best imo

Waiting for a price on Marine for this to go back in 😂
Yep. Would have hated that ground. It'll need to be like last year for him though.

Do think Maj will be overbet at Cheltenham. The rest (apart from FAF who isn’t good enough) will have hated that ground. Not sure I’d want to be a backer at anything under 2/1

RaceIQ had him gaining 16 lengths with his jumping.

The key to Majborough seems to be concentration and not disappointing him a little.
I remember in the arkle when Mark Walsh seemed to try and get a breather after the third last and steadied a bit into 2 out.
Think this makes the horse think too much.
So it should be kick and go and hold your breath, and as long as his jumping holds up and he doesn;t go too fast then he's your winner.
Bit like today.
Always be a heart in the mouth job though now

You read my email Q???

Walsh said: “That’s the real Majborough today. In Cork he couldn’t go right-handed and here the last day I tried to hold him up behind horses and when I came in I said we were doing the wrong thing.

“His big stride is his biggest asset, so Willie rang me the other morning and said we’ll put cheekpieces on and let him roll in front. That made a man of him today.

“He was looking at what he was doing today. The second fence he came up out of my hands, and he has some power behind him.

Majborough is the 11-8 favourite from 4-1 in Paddy Power’s non-runner no bet market for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

Mullins said: “Mark Walsh was very adamant that he wanted them (cheekpieces) on and that he wanted to ride him his own way. All credit to Mark.

“He was terrific. You could see Mark was enjoying it and the horse was enjoying it with him.

“It was just poetry in motion down the back. I was afraid that he might not have enough left in the tank over the second-last, but Mark said to me there that he had plenty in the tank, he threw a terrific jump in at the last and galloped away up the straight.

“I was wondering over the first three fences if they were going to kill one another and leave it to Marine Nationale, but every jump he put in he was getting a half-length or a length off the ones behind him and it all paid off in the end.”

Marine now 3/1

Im tempted just a bit short for me for an antepost bet

2/1-5/2 after decks feels a better bet than 3s now

If the handicapper leaves Marine Nationale at 170 (which I think is a ridiculous mark to be honest) he has to put Majborough up to about 185 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Just seen the race. What a run from Majborough. Is that the first time he has worn any sort of head gear? He relished everything today and soon batted off Solness at his track. That Solness really is an all or nothing horse isn't he. Like a Hunter Chaser over 2 miles.

they’ve found a way to win with Maj

I did think his day would come over heavy ground

…. that QMCC has a nasty way of crabbing favs, especially those who appear to only 1 way of running

Could he just jump off in front and go for it….

He jumped well today but again, he was left alone and in testing ground he would be going over them slower.

Still wouldn’t trust him at Cheltenham just yet, esp on quicker ground. If it’s soft, game over, he wins

Thistleask must surely take his chance after today. Hope he doesn't really as he and Maj would have a right ding dong up front.

I was looking through the markets earlier after the race and he was showing at 500/1. Don't know if it was a glitch but he is back to normal again now with the regular bookies (just 2 have him priced up)
