2026 BetMGM Cup Handicap Hurdle (previously Coral Cup)

I think the registered name for the race is the 'Cup Handicap Hurdle', which will of course be ignored by the masses who get upset at name changes when MGM get fed up and there are three different sponsors in the next five years...

Disappointing that Indeevar Blue is now out of this but makes Storm Heart an even strong bet for me. I fancy a lot of the Skelton handicappers this Cheltenham but just can't have Kateira for this. I think Storm Heart could easily be a strong favourite for this after P Townend is next to his name and the 12s available with B365 is a decent price imo.

I'm already on at 16s with Paddy's when they went NRNB and then 20s with B365. I would still take the 12s NRNB if not already on as can see that and the 10s easily disappearing once he's confirmed for the race and Townend jocked up.

Why doesn’t he go to the County? That entry is what’s stopping me topping up on him.
 
My thinking that he goes Coral Cup is that Willie already has strong chances according to the betting in Murcia and Karbau. He doesn't look to have as strong contenders in the Cup, so hopefully wants Storm Heart there who that who Paul would choose over Jump Allen.

Murcia and karbau they've got, you'd presume Paul will want to ride Murcia so can't see him going there

Only if you think there are horses in there that are 10lb well in. Thats not always the case. He's more of a chance of winning the County than the Churdle. Odds are that he'll run in the Churdle but the mere fact he's even entered for the County really intrigues me. Same trainer/owner/jockey won with State Man albeit off a light weight but Willie has ran very good horses off top weight with success in the race before so it's not as if it can't be done. I do like the idea of a classy type in this race and to me nothing else really springs out at me.

Anzadam is a classy horse in reputation and reputation only, his 157 rating came off beating Beacon Edge 12 lengths in receipt of 2lbs, beating Kala Conti 6 lengths in receipt of 5lbs (vs the 7lb allowance) and beating Nemean Lion a neck.

He's since finished behind Cashedale Lad and Poniros and not been dropped at all. I think it's actually harsh it's not been dropped. He should be around 153 imo.
 
Agree, he's not as good as some think which is why he should be in the County 👍Has he not been dropped a pound to 156?
