2024 Gold Cup

Chancing an Asterion Forlonge today and Gerri Colombe Gold Cup double.

Mainly because Galopin Des Champs is the only bet I have in the Gold Cup at the moment. And after seeing Bravemansgame disappoint again I've got a bit concerned of last year's Gold Cup leaving a mark.

Despite not being Gerri's biggest fan, he's an obvious chance of plodding to a Gold Cup.

Everyone loves the enigma that is Asterion Forlonge as well right.

I totally get he is not a flashy type like GDC and that you may not be a fan but ‘plodding’ is ridiculous. I genuinely don’t understand what you get out of this game if even a horse like him makes you feel like that. Sometimes I completely despair at how easily negative connotations spew out of our mouths. If he is a plodder what the fuck are the grade 2 , listed, handicappers , maidens and selling platers?

im sorry I don’t like showing my frustrations like this but I see so much of it and I simply don’t understand it.

:biggrin-new: Bad weekend?

Think someone should look up the definition of plodding for a start like.

Exactly. Slow moving is his run style and certainly will be in comparison to other in the Gold Cup field which is all I said, don't think anyone can argue with that. He's just a proper stayer.

Exciting or unexciting is a personal preference, and this is not mine, hence not being a 'fan'. I like flashy and quick. I also like making money though...

I didn't say he was shit :excitement:

A proper stayer is a compliment a plodder is disparaging. You could have chosen to say a proper stayer and chose plodding instead. I see this kind of choice all the time with folks. I love this sport with a passion and it just frustrates me when we feel the need to make a negative comment when a perfectly good positive one is available to convey the same point. Especially with the stars of our sport. If we don’t love them who the fuck will. It’s just a personal opinion that I am voicing I don’t have any desire for you to share it so let’s move on.

And no I didn’t have a bad weekend. I could have had a life changer and still I would have felt the same. :glee:

Fair play. Learn more about the sensitivity on the forum every day! Didn't mean to offend anyone.

I won't hate the sport if he plods or stays in the GC :semi-twins:

Yes no doubt I’m a snowflake. I think that what they call it these days :biggrin-new:

….looking like 7-1 Fred about the best for Fastorslow.

Early season graded races can be a punter's graveyard come March.

Willie's still needing a run.

Galopin was sticky on the first circuit, Paul very careful nursing him around.

What price GDC now? Might be handy for multiples.

GDC jumping definitely seemed a bit slower and stickier than usual, but that's twice he's been beaten by Fastorslow fair and square, who should be favourite imo.
