2024 Cheltenham - the odds on offer.

Pricewise tipped him up last week and it was cut off the back of that, wonder if someone else has put it up now too to give it another hair cut!

….these markets will get a shake up when the decision is made regarding Constitution Hill. It appears PP are taking the view that he’ll remain over hurdles.

Crazy given what both jockey and trainer have said since about being upped in trip.

I’m still of the belief his jumping issues could be exacerbated over fences. It’s a crazy price without knowing.

….Enegumene now a best 11/4 for CC.

Not any more by the looks of it. Swinging the other way again. All over the place. Don't think we'll know anything until the Autumn.

First race over fences back into Evens now Archie. Into 2's now with PP for Arkle and out to 5/4 for Champion Hurdle which is a huge price.

…I am Maximus now a best price 10-1 NHC.

Wonder if they’ve an inkling his target is the Irish National and trying to lure punters in to a potentially losing bet! :smiley_simmons:

Is there a vomit emoji

Crazy isn't it.

It was always going to happen as soon as PP shortened him. I searched twitter and the price cut from 12s>6s was highlighted by multiple racing accounts. These accounts will have a reach to 1000s of followers and some of them see that IAM is still 12/1 with B365. They back him with the thinking that 12s must be value if he's 6s elsewhere. All of a sudden, he's single figures.

I'd quite like him to win a chase before the end of the season tbh, in the hope that it stops some of these stupid ante post prices. Then again, PP might just pay him out as a winner anyway.

Totally agree. Twitter and Podcasts are genuinely going to be the death of AP betting.

And with Posh Josh and Velvet Voice appearing on RTV the other day, their reach is only going north.

On a slight tangent, there’s a couple of accounts run by younger lads that I follow on Twitter. They really get into the sport and add a new dimension to it, interviewing apprentices, young jockeys etc. They’re doing it for the love of the sport and are doing their bit to promote it.

They are the kind of chaps that are the future of the sport. They show it in a good light and should be encouraged by the Racing media. But instead, you get Racing TV promoting LTR, a run of the mill antepost hype podcast presented by a couple of media friendly faces (and voices).

Fair play to them for their success. They’ve no doubt worked hard to get where they have and I’ve no issue with them. I can leave them if I don’t enjoy them. The only issue you could say they contribute to is the collapse of antepost prices. But that’s not their fault. If there’s a demand there, someone will supply it.

But they don’t need promotion; antepost betting doesn’t need promotion. These lads that travel to Southwell on a Tuesday in November to interview a 7lb claimer, they need the support and the platform and I really hope the racing media appreciates the crucial role it has to play here.

Perhaps instead of having Mr Chocolado reading little vignettes about needing to save our sport, ITV might actually do something for its future and support these up and comers. Give them a little a slot on the opening show instead of the oh so subtle “look how well our horses are treated in this 30 second staged clip” … I mean homeschooling.

Do drop the names of those other accounts, here is a good place to start promoting them

At least he should keep others with a more serious chance at a better price for a while yet. Long may he be punted at ridiculous odds for what he has achieved.

Nod nod. Agree!

Just catching up and what a puzzle. I Am Maximus is single figures for the NH Chase, and that's because of an entry in the Irish National?

Which is a moderately similar profile that Gaillard Du Mesnil had?

...and bought by JP .... so people assuming Derek O'Connor rides?

Is there much else? Trained by Willie, so obviously Patrick rides?

It's not exactly bullet proof.

Wasn't Gaillward Du Mesnil 16/1 for the NH Chase after running well and going off as fav for the Irish National? (He may not have been, don't remember)

Clever twitter and content creators joining the dots...and we can't blame them, we have to blame bookies? Maybe so!

Does make me think though, I'm not sure how much 'fun' is left ante post, after trying to get my head around this 'market move' :indecisiveness: Having to be switched on 365 days of the year because people are making cases like this (which to be honest is an easy one to ignore) but it's a lot of effort isn't it, sifting and wading through.

Accessibility to information is so easy now, so easy to create 'content' .... seen it with FPL which is pretty much what my twitter feed shows rather than racing, and it's just so saturated.... the 'optimal' moves just end up becoming the mainstream (relative mainstream of course, you have to be looking for it) and it's the same with ante post now from the snippets I do see.

I've wondered about opening the doors on here more than once, but 'less is more' surely :dejection:. My biggest fear now is this forum becoming a racing twitter echo chamber! Well, maybe not biggest fear. Falling off a ledge is my biggest fear, getting worse the older I get :crushed:. Anyway.... it was bad enough having to debate Upping The Ante was bad for the 'ante post game' a couple of years back...... .... that show is a million miles clear of the majority of stuff out there now... and I know, I've contributed some shite in my time :loyal:

I wonder if 35 is the age where you decide you no longer like progress and want things back the way they were :highly_amused:

The fun is still there Kev, you just need to look harder and yep 35 is about right but be prepared for more cynicism to set in :excitement:

I backed at 16s straight after the festival (on the weekend after) pre-Irish national as I remember hoping for a solid placed finish to keep the dream alive. From
memory he went 12s (ish) pre Irish National & then single figures once his novice status was guaranteed.
